Paul is definitely pushing the envelope. His parading of the Dragon 'in the wilds' of his front yard, for example, in the Folders in the Wild thread.

Can the hijackers relinquish this thread and get back to Saltydawg's question?

Saltydawg,
Welcome! Please read the link below. http://www.bikeforums.net/folding-bikes/662536-new-folding-bikes-can-t-choose-read-first.html Have fun while you're at it. |
Both the Electric Bike and Folding Bike forums have been wrestling with Saltydawg's commuting issues since 2007 and 2009 respectively, it's an immense challenge, especially as he seems to have no real interest in cycling as such. His weight was around 220/245, but people do tend to put on weight as they get older, so not sure if a kick scooter is going to do it. For the distance mentioned, possibly up to half a mile, I'd say make no changes, park the car and walk.

A bit late in the year for cabinfewer is`nt it?
|
I think Saltydawg should definitely get a pair of Helices. :)

Sorry, I don't know why I am throwing my two cents in but I am doing it ANYWAY. I, being a newcomer to the forum, also found Emmylou's post to be a bit suspicious. But hey, she cleared it up, I was obviously wrong.

It seems that a couple peeps need to schwing a leg over the saddle and have a nice bike ride.

I had had many more customers that you, and I am a probabilist by trade ( My Ph.D. advisor is a probabilist ). I can say that the probability that an organic customer starts posting this kind of stuff is zero. Therefore it would be logical to conclude that EmmyLou is connected to Pingis ( friend, family, employee , etc ) In short the hijacker & his crew are now claiming a hijack....oh my. I think Pingis must really be desperate with his business, this is a new low. Thanks, Yan |
Ok, mods, do your thing. I think the OP has figured out which folder to get by now, and this thread got off that topic a long time ago. Poof..GONE.

Hi Yan, it seems you have not got your facts straight at all. No, I am not the owner (you should be able to see on our profiles that he is from VA and I live in PA). I apologize for my mistake in naming the bikes. I have in fact had an Origami Gazelle for about three years (the “new” one is just an updated model), while my boyfriend has a Crane. As for the seat cover, anyone go to the company's website and see that they sell seat covers. You should take the time to get your facts straight before attacking someone innocent. My Origami bike is great and I know the company is small so I am simply trying to spread the word and get people talking. Is that not the point of this website? Now, I hope you reconsider the next time you want to slam another company. Have a good day. :)

I count myself very lucky that I had enormously helpful advice when I posted here about my nascent interest in folding bikes. Got a used Dahon and haven't touched my other bike since the end of last summer (though I have promised myself to get it going this weekend). Patiently loitering here and waiting on the perfect bike to splurge on one day soon. Wish the OP the best of luck and hopefully, this thread hasn't chased him away!

True, forgot that this had posted. Personally, for four blocks, I would walk it. By the time I unlock/lock bike, put on helmet and if it's winter, the clothing/gear--my walking self would probably be halfway there. Unless it's Vegas where some blocks stretch forever and by the time you reach the hotel, your mother is mad at you for being too cheap to hail a cab. But really, the hotel looked like a few blocks down the street!

I've done that Vegas walk. The hotel actually seems to get further away the longer you walk!
Haven't been to Vegas for years (and if I'm lucky, won't ever again), but I wonder if they have bikeshare now? I would think it would be a good city for it. Flat as a pancake, though there is the heat...but it's a dry heat...Would be great to slowly pedal from casino to casino rather than having to hail down a taxi all the time. |

I know what I want to be on my next life.....web detective !!
|
I joined the forum and posted in January regarding purchasing a folding bike. Since that time, I've been doing a lot of web browsing, reading and researching on bicycles in general and folders in particular.
I have read quite a few threads on this forum, probably half or more in the folders section. There's been a wealth of technical information, and many other readings that have touched on the more human aspects of bicycling, and naturally often the personalities of the posters. Like any forum, suffice to say that there's quite a broad mix of people and personalities. While I am generally inclined to support small businesses, I can state confidently that there are two brands which I will not and would not consider due to the character of the owners' posts on this forum. Some of the things I have seen posted on this forum remind me of kids scuffling and pulling each others hair; this particular thread looks to have demonstrated new lows in that vein. My intent is to head down to the local bike shop Monday and purchase a pair of folders manufactured by a giant, faceless corporation. I expect they won't be too different in a technical sense from anything else I could have bought. But, I have taken something of a liking to the folks at this particular shop. I guess retail is kind of quirky that way. |
Time to close this mess of a thread.
