Well guys, I am now the proud owner of a Birdie! I just don't know what model it is, and it needs new shocks. Other than that, it rides great!

I'm sure this will not be my first folder.

That's a very cool bike. You got it cheap, but watch your wallet..there's all kinds of cool blingy shocks out there! Then the shifters and derailleurs might need an upgrade. Maybe new cranks and brake levers... ;-)

... and luggage...

Nice thing about the birdy is that it's quality and worth upgrading. Lots of times a first folder is entry level in every way and not worth the money to take to the next level. If you end up really liking the ride, you can do all kinds of things to elevate it - wheelset, drivetrain, seat/bars, etc. But having a quality frame is the most important starting point. Congrats, and enjoy!!! Post some pics when you get a chance.

If it's a 7 speed, it's likely a Birdy Green from the late 1990's .. original Birdy Greens came with belt drive, but later changed to chain .. looking at the picture of your bike from the c/l ad, the stem is on backwards, which might make you feel cramped riding.. The rear elastomer (shock) generally doesn't have a spring.. there are different elastomers with different durometer readings to accommodate different weight riders.. cool bikes.. I've had a few through the years..

Also, it looks like the rear derailleur is adjusted incorrectly.. send a couple of pics of your new ride .. should be easy enough to get it right..

Yep post pics, lots of help available here to help you learn the ropes of Birdys which will be very helpful if you want to do maintenance yourself, something which is recommended.
