Route vs. Vybe: how are they different/alike?

My question is more out of curiosity than (belated) buyer's remorse. I've owned my Vybe for a while now, but the sporting goods shop still has a Route or two lying around.

I've been wondering about what sets the two bikes apart, as they appear very similar,entry-level bikes to me - at least in principle, that is.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but just by looking at the bukes, I think I can see that the Vybe has slightly more aggressive geometry.

On the other hand, I had to mod my Vybe with a bigger chainring and faster freewheel to get some speed out of it, which I wouldn't have had to do if I bought a Route; the latter already comes with a 52t chainring from the factory, but I'm not sure about the freewheel. (They only had the Route in stock some time after I had already bought and modified my Vybe anyway, so there's that.)
