Hi i have a folding ebike and it has tiny 14" wheels that need new wheels anyway. How hard is it for me to get a wide hub ? The bike mechanic said 122-126mm for the rear...where the motor is or will not be once i take the wheel off. Its is a single speed bike. I spotted these wheels https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/14-inch-...53.m1438.l2649 on ebay and havent got an answer back yet about the spacing. Its a bike that i got for free and i will use where the terrain is flat. There are other things i will repair/replace or fix on this too

Your ebay link shows the rear at 85mm, which is too narrow for the 126mm axle spacing measured by your mechanic.

You can probably find a comparable used folding bike for what it will cost to change over the above bike to an unpowered bike, if you have to pay someone to do it for you.

Yeah i was hoping to change the hub or whatever it is called myself. I just got the advice from the mechanic. I have been able to take that wheel off since and change the tube so now i know i can do it. Yes with his cost of labour that would not make this worth it. Btw everything is in australian dollars . Oh i didnt see where it says it is 85mm btw. I must have missed that. I knew it would be more narrow. I really cant afford to get a new foldy and there are only about 2 brands of them sold here. The brompton and one other at a shop close to where i live. I think they retail from $1000 maybe AUD. Definately not in my budget at all or even close to it. I managed to get one wheel in a council cleanup but have to look closer at it to see if it is viable. I will be getting some other parts this way too. Oops sorry i just realised you said a used bike. Yeah i dont trust really that i will get something here that way. I have looked for years online and nothing comes up in my area. I dont drive and australia is a big place. Never a decent one at a decent price

Oh thanks i have seen that site but didnt know if it was legit. Theres so many sites out there your never sure. I also have an ebike and thats an expense in and of itself. This 14" would be for the next trip i take overseas that is a few years away. So none of those bikes fits my budget or size requirements. The 14" is so small its perfect

Is there anyway that i can create some type of spacer and put in a longer rod for the rear wheel?

so managed to find a wheel for this bike from a childs bike but the cassette doesnt freewheel if thats the right term. The old wheel had what i think should be on here. Is there a way i can get it off to use on the newer wheel?

Your bicycle mechanic should be able to remove the old single speed freewheel and order a new one for you. They have a special tool which fits into the four notches.

However, I also notice that the hub seems to be missing a spacer. When you tighten up the wheel in the dropout, does the dropout press against the freewheel? That alone could be your issue. Your mechanic might be able to provide a spacer as well.

OK thanks will ask him when i get a chance. By the hub missing a spacer do u mean in the new set up? The newer wheel i installed? Not sure where u mean? I might have a spacer. I might have put things on wrong. Theres lots of peices here. I ant look now but maybe tomorrow

If a spacer were missing, I think the wheel wouldn't turn. You can try spinning the gear backwards when the wheel is off the bike. Maybe a shot of penetrating oil will loosen it.

Oh ok the wheel turns fine. i dont think this is meant to go backwards. Because it is froma childs bike. Seems to be very different from the part thats on the old wheel i took off

Oh i just remember the reason it doesn't go backwards is because thats how it brakes as a childs bike. Thats how all bikes were when i was a child. So might have to bring the old wheel with me to the workshop tonight. There is a community workshop that i go to sometimes and they might help me on the spot

I have two tiny bikes out rusting outside, probably 12" and 16" wheels, and their gears freewheel, . Realizing that some day I might want the wheels has kept me from putting them out for the garage collector.

Oh cool. Yes the original wheel was like that but its moved to the side. Wish i knew how to take that part off to put it on the new bike. A youtube video would be handy. I dont have gears on this bike though. Oh hope you find a use for your tiny bikes
