Java Neo 20" Brompton style

I saw this new model at a bike show today and was told would sell for 18000THB but not available yet. These pics are from Aliexpress.
Looks modern with an alloy frame and disc brakes and smart cable routing.
I wonder if they have plans to release a 16" version?

..it looks like a designated sequel to the Java Carbon Air that i ride happily since 2015. It is also mainly made of carbon and has a different fold but, it is bigger when folded, and heavier. I cannot see progress with that, interesting is the rear hinge around the bottom bracket. Looks like the italian design and engineering "brain" of the company departed and it's getting all average now, sad..!

I never said I took pictures, or had any questions, or interest in buying a new bike.
There's no reason to waste time asking a reseller questions about future products they know nothing about, especially when I have no interest in it.
I just posted this in case someone else is shopping for a new bike and wants to research themselves.

The Aliexpress price is USD 1234 (he he ... what a nice number.) Is is a beautiful bike.

but ..
no itty bitty wheels
no fenders
no luggage block
i guess for the rack, you can still cook up some thing (clamp to seat post thingy)

with regards to carbon, I think there are three fatalities I have read, associated with carbon forks so far (race bike). The Tern frame break fiasco, no fatalies.

Bikes: Brompton, Dahon Vitesse D5

Looks smart but doesn't fold any smaller than a Dahon. Well, it kinda cuts a top edge off but the footprint is the same.

When the bike is opened, and the hinge latch secured, the frame looks,...just a bit,...rough,...and,...unfinished. PASS!!!

If the rear frame pivots around the BB, I wonder how they get the rear frame and BSA threads to move independently without flexing the overall width between the BB cups, which might loosen the crank spindle bolt.

Also, no rack braze-ons

While I haven't seen one in the flesh, I really like it. The size folded from Alibaba shows to be about 30 in. wide x 27 in. high x 12 in. deep which is larger than the stated specs. Looks like two models, one an all aluminum 9 speed listed for $499.99. u.s. & the carbon fiber 11 speed listed for $1299.99 u.s. Weights are 12 & 10 kg. respectively. One feature I really like is the flush mounted release for the frame fold. If the product quality is up to snuff then the pricing is very attractive for what you get.

I did get to see one in the flesh in Thailand but was very disappointed in the finish quality. For the price of the bike it should have braze ons & a better finish. There were edges of the frame that looked very rough as if they had skipped smoothing those areas & the paint looked pretty thin. I think the concept is good but you can get a better quality, similar bike without having to spend more money to outfit it with braze ons, fenders & a rear rack. It looks like Java intends this bike to strictly be a city commuter. For my money I would still go with a Tern model.

I'm loving the Java Fit: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/JAVA...9-bb944092f940

Supposedly the weight capacity (rider + gear) is 160kg/352lbs!!!

But.... it doesn't have rack braze-ons?

Do you find it strong and durable? Enough to take on tour or to travel with in a suitcase?

I am also tempted for a while, seems one candidate for "another bike next time", someone here writes a good review....https://handsonbike.blogspot.com/201...ction.html?m=1

Power Assist for a Neo

In my opinion I think you may run into interference with the seat post as well as the fold.
You would probably be better off adding a front wheel hub motor for a much simpler Power Assist Install.

Nice looking bike!

I wonder what the max tire clearance is?

Luggage wise isn't that big a deal to solve imo.
Carradice Bagman support or a Klickfix seapost mount for the rear luggage.
Handlebar bag or Klickfix mount for the front luggage.
Of course there are those Apidura style saddle bags too.

Might be a potential bike to get for my daughter.

Nice looking design but why no braze on for fenders and rack? Also sketchy spec.s.
