Marathon Plus or Marathon Plus Tour

Looking at 20-inch tyres to replace my Kenda generics. I figure Marathon Plus would be the best choice since my main concern is flat protection. Realized that there is a "Marathon Plus Tour" option as well, which seems to have the same blue "SmartGuard" but with a deeper tread (I presume for dirt roads). It had me thinking that the Tour would be perhaps a slightly better choice as the deeper tread adds a few more mm of material in the tread, extending tyre life and perhaps adding just a tad more puncture protection as a result. Going by the site, the only advantage of the Tour seems to be off-road traction. This will probably be a pavement only bike so the utility of deeper tread for traction is a bit suspect (road is grippier than any tyre ever), but it did have me wondering. As they are not exactly knobby like MTB tyres are, I presume it wouldn't have the same efficiency loss issue, but there might be increased "squirm" or something.

Tyres in question:

Is there any real drawback - or advantage - to selecting the "Tour" tyre over the regular Marathon Plus?

M.
