Upgrades!
I just pressed my 2008 Dahon Boardwalk back into service after several years of storage. After doing basic repairs, here's what it looked like - basically entirely stock:

I rode it for around 175km over the course of about a week, and discovered some issues that I thought would be best resolved by upgrades. So I replaced the awful SRAM grip shifter with a 7 speed Shimano Rapidfire shifter, replaced the truly terrible original cotterless 3 piece crank with a two piece crank with external bottom bracket, installed new brakes and brake levers, replaced all the cables, installed new grips with integrated bar ends, and rehabilitated an old Brooks B17 saddle that I had lying around for use on this bike.
Here's a few photos.
In progress:

Complete:

Cockpit:

Really pleased with how the project has turned out.
Unfortunately there's currently a typhoon blowing outside so I can't actually go and ride it, but as soon as the weather improves I'm going to try it out ASAP. There is one more issue I can't handle myself that needs to be resolved, though - the front wheel is really wobbly so I'm planning to replace it with a newly built wheel with a QR hub done by the same Dahon shop that did the rear wheel when I first took the bike out of storage. I'll also upgrade the tires to Schwalbe Big Apples as soon as I can justify buying new tires. Other than that, it's time to ride the heck out of it - and I'm already planning to attempt my first metric century on a folder as soon as the summer heat and humidity relents somewhat!
