Dahon speed seat post

Have anyone cut down their seat post or added a clamp at the bottom? To keep the bar from hitting the ground if the seat slips and drops while riding, to prevent injury. And, also what's the size of the clamp, I would like to upgrade or switch to one with a hex bolt.

I've cut down a seat post.
There's usually a plastic piece at the end you can pull out then re install it after the cut.

The clamp is probably 40mm

If you're having problems with seat post slippage, first clean the post an inside the frame.
Then tighten the clamp a half turn.

The full sized post will help support the bike when folded.
Some frames have a welded support for the same reason.
