Kamingo E-Bike Conversion

Saw this on Kickstarter today. Seems like it would work as an easy e-bike conversion for a folder.

Similar to the old Rubbee, but looks much more compact.

Doesn't work with rack or mud guards, and possibly clearance problems with the seatpost on folding bikes depending on whether you can set the retraction angle when it disengages due to the shallower angle of the upper stay.

Velospeeder, a far better approach, alas, German and expensive.

I wonder if you can travel with this. Since the motors are detachable you could check in your bicycle as a normal human powered bicycle. Can you bring the motors and the battery on as carry on? If you split The battery in two you might be able to get around the 160wh limitation. But will they let you carry the small motors on?

For the money they are asking for that, it has to be a big no, terrible design for power transfer, never mind what will happen when it's wet, well actually do because water plus any dirt with eat your rims up with this design.

Obviously you would need to confirm it works with your bike. None of these are universal solutions.

But I don't think mudguards are a huge deterrent. Lots of folks ride without them. I mean, where I live rain/mud isn't as much of an issue. Again... not a universal solution for every use case.

OUCH!!! Good thing it's still warm, so no long coats, and a bald-shaved head for working outdoors in the heat!
