Hi everyone! Is there anyone here who has installed a Qiroll friction motor (or a similar friction drive system) on a Brompton equipped with a rear rack?

I'm trying to see how it fits and if there are any clearance issues with the rack. If you have this setup, could you please share some photos of how it’s mounted? Thanks in advance!

I don't have this but even if you can attach to the chain stays, you won't be able to fold the bike. The riser tube, BB to main tube, fits in the space between the chain stays. Or is there some alternate method of attachment?

Maybe, but then show me a picture of it folded. That video of the Boost kit is for a traditional hub motor not a friction drive. Which do you mean?

For me, that would be interfering with fold. The motor limits how far the seat tube goes down, so the bike will not lock together. It also prevents the wheel from hitting the main tube, so I doubt that the handlebar and stem will lock either.

However, if you would be satisfied with the fold, I don't think having rack would make any difference.

Myself, I don't like this friction drive concept mainly due to the noise, and it interferes with the fender.

After looking at it further, I do think that while the bike is not folding all the way, it will lock together. So, I was wrong about that.

Is the noise due to the friction drive at the tire, or due to the IGH ratcheting? If the latter, that would also apply to Bromptons with a front hub drive, which one of the local Brompton dealers has been selling for over ten years. If the former, that would be an additional reason against for me, as I think friction tire drives would greatly reduce tire life, but I could be wrong.
