Strida 5 in Canada soon?

Steedman Bass of Strida has told me that the Strida 5 will not be available in Europe unless they can get the considerable price difference over the Strida 3 reduced.
But check out JV Bike of Canada & they claim to have them arriving soon

Better off buying one from Taiwan. I know a bike shop in Taiwan which will ship to other countries.

Fortunately shipping isn't completely killer since the Strida can be put in a smaller box for EMS shipment.

There are about 680USD in Japan, but I don't know of any shops that will ship overseas or speak much English. As makeinu said, maybe Taiwan is the way to go.

Incidentally, what made you choose that name makeinu?

I don't see the problem with adding a Sturmey Archer hub since the chainline seems straight. Regardless, $800.00 USD is a lot of money.

I quite agree - I wonder how they 'cost' everything ?

Anyhow I got back today from the Toronto Bicycle show at the Exhibition downton toronto.. was looking for folders - only saw a bare few .. namely Dahon - Hon solo, ciao , MU (basic), Helios P (something), Speed 7 , also one Bike Friday , and a chinese lady selling a whole bunch of chinese 'local' brands - else everything was for normal bike guys/gals.. .. i wanted to see the Curve SL but no luck ...

Have to say i was surprised how light the Helios was .. slick looking too.. guess they had mostly old models out there.. Too bad my Camera battery was dead .. else would have taken some snaps..

The problem with gears & Stridas is that the freewheel is in the BB not the backwheel, a problem while the wheels were plastic, but not insurmountable now Stridas come with spokes.
