I don't know much about used folding prices, but it did seem high.

If it is a Stainless Steel frame they go for over twice that much, but they are heavy.

That is a Stainless Dahon Classic. The price is fairly good. The stainless ones go on ebay for close to $300. I have one of these that I got for only $25 at a yard sale.

I'm new to this forum, but sponging up a lot of good info quickly. I'm looking for a folder for a shortish (<1 mi) ride at either end of my daily commuter train trip. There's a little bit of hilliness involved, nothing outrageous but it's not a simple flat block or two. So I think my priorities would be something that's simple to fold up, compact, and can climb a bit without struggling (so no single-speeds I guess)
Just found this one on Craigslist: 1986 Dahon California http://newyork.craigslist.org/fct/bik/1302974953.html It's cheap and it's close to where I am at the moment (visiting folks). I'm tempted - it's cheap and it's old (which is kind of cool) but I know very little about vintage bikes in general, and absolutely nothing about older folders. I had my eyes on something newer but this is definitely budget-friendly if nothing else. Is it worth a look? |
