Dahon Curve Clone???

Does anyone recognize this bike:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lmUDXTpudqg

The caption reads "Dahon Curve Chinese Clone". Has anyone seen a knock-off of the Curve yet?

Sadly, all I could find were a couple of ebay auctions. I couldn't find anything else... and I pride myself on my google skills so my guess is that ebay is the only place you'll get any info on these.

The folding bike shown on E bay bears a passing resemblance to the Dahon Curve, but on closer examination could hardly be described as a "clone". It is considerably heavier and appears to have inferior fittings throughout.
Another case of "Buyer Beware" I think.

The D3 isn't even expensive in the first place. I'd not have thought it would be a viable option to pirate the idea. Certainly, you could stick a cheap derailleur on an approximately similar frame, but it won't give the same service and pleasure as the original. Clones like the Merc are functionally and almost aesthetically the same as the Brompton. This thing isn't really in any way the equivalent of the bike that inspired it - maybe it was inspired by the curve, or maybe not. It's not that easy to tell.

EvilV you are right: the definition "clone" in not correct: is a "bad copy"
All components are cheeper and I am not sure how long will last

Looks like this bike finally made it to the U.S. -

https://www.citizenbike.com/catalog.a...&product_id=10

Citizen is calling it the "Tokyo" but it looks virtually the same. Could be a competitor to the Kent Ultra Lite.

The 2007 curve D3 is on sale new on ebay.co.uk for £250 + £20 postage. That's not a lot of money for what looks like a nice little bike.

I can't believe this Tokyo bike can be a lot of good for the dollar equivalent of about £75.
