What's up with Airnimal?

Day after day I check here to see if there are any threads on Airnimal folders, and every day I'm disappointed.
Is this because few riders have them in the States? I'm beginning to feel very lonely.

This guy; Minty - used to post here about his fixie one. I can't remember his username on this forum—but here's a piece about his that was published on the FoldSoc website:

Very few stores carry them or will get you one. If they do, it's completely at your own risk sight unseen (no returns). It's a fairly good sized purchase to not be able to back out of if you're unsatisfied, which is why I ignored them after I could find no retailer willing to get one.

Hmmmm, there is a guy on here with an Airnimal ... I recall that he has quite a collection of folders too. I think he also gave a report on the Reach Road bike.

At the time, I thought that his Chameleon had a Schlumpf on the front with a derailer on the rear.

That would be BruceMetras. He has a few posts about his Airnimal that you can find with the search function

I don't think Airnimal has been particularly aggressive in marketing or building a dealer network in the U.S. I have e-mailed and called the U.S. representative for information in the past and never heard back from them.

That'd be me... still putting the miles on it but haven't had much to post about it... made a few slight changes since I put it together a couple of years ago from a frame kit ... it's a great road bike that I transport in the trunk/boot of the car.. the US distributor was relatively close to where I live, so communications were pretty simple.. there's also a high end bike shop that stocked them in Sausalito, although I pretty much bought my kit sight unseen..

Not yet, but maybe with a few more tykes under foot, perhaps you can attain that state...

I do think its a pity that it's not more available or more well known in the States as it's a great bike.

I test rode the Joey and Chameleon. I agree with the assessment. Moreover, achieving the proper gearing is easier with the "larger" wheels.

I always thought that a Joey built to fit both 24" wheels would be a great all around type of bike since you would increase the selection of tires. Of course, you would have two sets of wheels too.

From: Carlisle, in England's Lake District, just a few miles south of the border with Scotland.

Bikes: A Bianchi C2C road bike, a steel framed touring bike and a Xootr Swift folder which has made the rest redundant!

They don't supply a model with Campagnolo components!

But Airnimal will sell you just the frame - It's then up to you to build exactly what you want

I've got a Centaur 53/39 on mine but the rest is now standard MTB bits.

Your bike looks the business Bruce...is that a double chainset you have there? They usually come with a 52 large chain-ring while yours seems a lot smaller than that.

Looks like a single chainring SpeedDrive crankset.

One of my mates own a top model. (Chameleon ultima with Full DA / velocity wheelset)
I happened to ride his rig for a short while.

It was a nice bike with good ride feeling, but even the top model was kinda heavy (around 9kg)
As you can buy the framekit only, this may be more cost effective option than Pocket Rocket series...
