Dahon addicts

Two Speed P8s (had four but two were stolen on tour)
Two Speed Pros
Two Mu SLs
Two Vitesse P8s (Chinese versions)
Four DLT aluminum 26" mtn bikes (Chinese versions)

We live in China and have two houses: Xiamen and Guilin.

Dahon bikes travel with us on every trip. Heading to Seoul for a trade
show next week and a P8's along for the ride.

Bought my first folder, Dahon MU P8, in July of 08. Now I own 3

Dahon Mu P8 converted to Drop bars (will soon convert to Moustach bars)
Bike Friday Pocket Rocket
Brompton M6R British Racing Green Frame w/black extremities (on order)

Also would like a Folding HP Velotechnik Grasshopper recumbent to replace my non-folding Grasshopper.

Between Mrs LWaB and myself:
- A pair of Bromptons, hers is noticeably modified, since 2001.
- Her Rohloff TSR, since 2007.
- My S&S-coupled 700C Frezoni custom since 1999.
- My Moulton Stowaway, now fixed wheel, since 2001.
Honourable mentions:
- A Rudge 26" folder (old Montague, given away)
- Two other old Moultons (non-separable) and several bikes with bigger wheels

Folder Stable

1 - CAT Swift steel
1 - Xootr Swift
1 - Modified R20
1 - Stock R20
2 - R20s to be rebuilt (in what form?)
1 - Montague Hummer
Others, 2 single speeds, 1 tourer, 2 Sillgey Piccolos

And yes, they do put a big hole in the budget.

Started off with a cheap Chinese bike just to test the folder concept. Then moved on to a Dahon MU SL and now have a Brompton S-type lightweight. I would like to add a Pashley Moulton TSR 30 as a touring bike and either a Bike Friday Pocket Llama or an Airnimal Rhino for riding trails.

Jeez, no wonder we're kept in quarantine here--folderitis is highly contagious and causes significant weight loss in the wallet...

Just one.

Xootr Swift.

Lately, I keep finding myself thinking maybe SWMBO would like a R20. Could this be early onset of folderitis ?

Naw, it just shows that your not completely and utterly whacked out of your gourd ..

Folderitis? gulp ... never seemed so chronic until I write it down... some live in various extended homes.. girlfriends and ex-wives involved.. okay, no excuses ..

In 2003/04 bought my first two Dahon Helios folders from West Marine and rode them until late 2005.. then it appears the bug hit bad.

Dahon Helios (2) Sold recently

In order of favoritism, trying to factor in the visual with joy per pedal stroke .. with inevitably some close ties depending on mood.. some purchased new .. some used, seemingly too good to pass up .. some would change slots based solely on intended purpose:

Pashley Moulton TSR-27 (lots of mods)
Pacific Reach Road (mostly stock)
Airnimal Chameleon (2) ( one with Schlumpf SpeedDrive - one with close ratio 9spd and triple)
Pacific Reach City (gearing and wheel mods)
R&M Birdy Silver (24 speed Dual Drive)
Xootr Swift (Shimano 8spd Hub gear + Big Apples)
Dahon Mu Uno (real sleeper)
Dahon Jetstream XP (Schlumpf SpeedDrive)
Dahon SpeedPro (On-One shallow drops and STI )
Dahon Helios XX
Dahon Zero G
Downtube FS (Shimano 8spd Hub gear + Schlumpf Mountain Drive) pulls 125lb dog/trailer combo
Chinese Strida (running 355/Kojak)
Pacific CarryMe DualSpeed

wow....reading all those posts it seems that i only had a mild case of folderitis. i thought that mine was worst. now it pales in comparison to all of you guys. i was in san francisco mission street this pm and i saw about 100s of road bikes and just 1 folder. this girl was riding a dahon mu ( i think) but it made me stopped and stared at her bike unlike the road bikes. i think i should start looking at carryme or brompton (and buy either one) to make myself bonafide folderitis member.....

thanks guys,
vic

not enough!

at the moment i have:

one Puegoet nuveo 22in wheels, baskets and racks for the shops, (wifes bike)
one bridgestone picnica, virtually mint, 14in wheels, collapsable rear stays to lay frame back on itself, lives in bedroom, (small enough to be the indoor bike)
two raleigh twenties,
one blue 74 with most stuff stripped and new seat/post/stem/bars etc, soon to have SA 8spd hub and v-brakes (my twenty for the one in twenty)
the other brown 75in bits awaiting hydraulic disc brake conversion to the original SA 3 spd, just cos...to see if i can..
always have an eye out for more, it seems easier to hide the small bikes in the shed
i may have to oust some of the other bikes to make space.

Compared to all this I am simply pathetic:

2 Dahon Helios P8s, unmodified, one since stolen :-(
1 more Dahon Helios P8 to replace the stolen one, with fenders and Primo Comets
1 Bike Friday Tikit hyperfold, medium flag red, with size-Large stem riser and modified size-Large seatmast, front and rear racks
