Depending how you count, I think I have six folders at present. Two (Downtube Mini and YFB) are set up and ready for me to ride; and two (Kent and an R-20) are set up for my kids to use. My Strida is at the lower edge of functionality, and it's not clear that any amount of time and money would make it better. I also have an R-20 that I have decided I don't like; it's in pieces now, but I mean to put it back together and sell it one of these days.

Basically, I think I need two or three folders, and I make do with the ones I have, but none of them is quite perfect. It is tempting to go searching for the perfect folder, but first I have to get rid of some.

Ok here is my confession:

1. Greenspeed GTO, Tadpole trike equipped with S and S couplers (does this count?)
2. Red Brompton M3 (with IT Chair)
3. Black Brompton M6
4. Black Bike Friday Tikit hyperfold
5. Raleigh R20 with 7 speed sram coaster brake hub (thanks Jakub) flat bars and finally a new front wheel as of last week.
6. Dahon Boardwalk fixed gear (sold)

DT mini
HH7
Merc
DT half suspension given to my Dad

want to swap or sell the merc and the hammerhead for a tourer - NWT, Speed TR; and/or S2L-X as well. Told my wife its rationalization, but she won't let me get new till I get rid of old. Odd that.

Four. Two Downtube IXFSs, one Downtube Mini, one Raleigh 20. Additionally, I have some small wheelers - one Royal Enfield Revelation, two Moulton Mini's. It's a disease.

Love those confessions / displays of informed power-buying.

I've got some folderitis too, but to this point I've have shown surprising restraint.

Still pissed about a recent ebay auction for a Moulton APB that ended way early (total BS reason).

1 - Early Downtube 8FS - with modist mods (still got it)
2 - Early Downtube 8FS - mostly stock (sold it)
3 - 2007? Xootr Swift - Shimano Nexus 8 red line hub/Alfine trigger. Thudbuster.

Lusted over the following in varying degrees over the years... Moulton - maybe an APB, BF - maybe a Llama w/Thudbuster and trick fork, BF case/trailer, a Birdy...

Got anything enticing to sell **********?? email me.

That was doco, I wondered what the reason was... didn't see one given on the auction...

I suppose he had a good reason for himself, that perhaps the bidding didn't reflect what he wanted... ebay auctions can be quite hard for the seller due to last-second sniping, so the seller has no good idea of what it might fetch, and early termination is the only safe option? Anyway, I assume the reason was good for himself, but that the public given one may sound insincere due to limited options given by ebay.

I use the Brompton M5R for shopping locally since the has got the rack. But at 30-31 lbs, it is quite heavy and the shifter is not as easy to shift as the M3L. I bought it because I was think the 5 speed will give me better hill climbing in the San Francisco hilly area as it does helps somehow. However, I try to minimize the frequency of shifting due to the poorly designed shifter mechanism. It comes with everything I need especially no need go change batteries for the lights forever. It is basically maintenance free for the past 10 years. Since this is one of the most practical folder I have, I have spent most of my time using it on both day and night.

As for the M3L. It is at 28 lbs with the Brooks saddle (actually a seat to me). The riding experience is better because of lighter weight and easier to shift. I enjoy it more than the M5R.

If I have to choose again, I would go for the 2009 Brompton with new 6 speed hub (not the one with two shifters) on the titanium frame with rack and possibly add an electric hub motor to it.

I have two Phillip's 20's that have seen some serious mods, the GF has a spectacular 1974 R20, and my daughter has a Raleigh Saffron (non folding Compact).

I am down one folder today... my friend has wanted a folder for some time and figure I can always build up another folding P20 road bike.

I have also been thinking that if I could find a clean used Brommie I'd be all over that.

I entered the folding world 3 years ago. I first bought 2 (16" and 20") made in china folders. Each only cost me $150. I thought I was so cool, too! But then my wife's uncle comes to visit for the first time riding a Dahon Helios SL! OMG!!! and that is how I fell in love with folders.

20'' Folder my mother in law now uses.
16'' Folder my wife's brother's 8 year old uses occasionally.
20'' Dahon MU C9 my friend currently uses.
16'' Brompton S2L-X. (SOLD)
16'' Brompton 3 speed raw color currently being built! I can't wait!

I have another confession father!

I saw an Onza Mini on Ebay. It was just sitting there with no bids. It needed a good Home. This is a tiny little trial style bike from "Onza" one of the leading manufacters of trail bikes. It does not fold but the seat post and handlebar stem are quick release so it is very stowable. I can do a 360' on it (usually),and I will use it to acompany by son at the bmx trackwhen we travell by car. This bike will do my street cred no favours! ? That takes me back up to four
therefore

2 X Dual draive Mezzo
Dahon Curve
Onza Mini

I think I will end up selling my lesser upgraded Mezzo soon. We shall see. Birdie looks good.........-

Three months ago, I hadn't owned a bike in 15 years. Then I came across two older Dahons at a yard sale. Now I have two (and on Monday will have 4 more).

My wife has the 1990 16" Dahon Mariner Classic III.
I have been riding the 1989 Stainless Dahon Classic III (and lost 39.5 pounds in the process).

I decided ot upgrade a bit and bought 4 2005 Dahon Jetream P8's from a RV family. I plan to keep one and sell the other three. (They arrive on Monday)

So in less than three months I went from 0 folders to 2 to 6 and then I will settle out at 3. I may even end up selling the Stainless.

I am interested very much into a Brompton with this setup (however I do not find titaniums worth the price for just taking off 1 kilogram)
Anyway my question is:
Is there a single shifter 6-spd Brompton ? Or do you mod it?

Between my Raleigh 20 and Downtube Mini I'm pretty satisfied. If I had to get a folder now, it'd be a BF Tikit with IGH, but it really makes little sense for how I use folders now.
