The thing I like about a 54 is that in 1st at a stand still there is no need to shift the drailler. Shifting twicw on the ihg and your off. Then fine tune shifting with the 9 speed. If I stop in 27th I just change down on the ihg and off again. Works so slickly and fast freom brifters. With the 56 its a little over gearedand I need to change on both more often. I love my close ratio cassette, so I am currently running the 54. I am running a 11_21 casseTte, as my bike is set up as a fast road bike with kojacks, bullbars, clipin peddles, and brifters. I find gearing fine for hills. My sash gold bike has a 11-19. 7 speed. I could do with a smaller gog or more spread. |

No tailwind in York today, nearly wanted a granny ring! Kojaks on wet road iron on the way home made for an interesting ride, good job I'd put the MKS clip pedals back on!

I have modified the front wheel clip by adding a bracket so it now sits in a different location and milling some of the clap away so it sits a little closer. The front wheel now sits lower than before but has hardly affected the compact fold. This is only possible because of the roller kit, it increases the ground clearance. Click box fits nicely between two parallel spokes. Here are some photos of it:

This seems the best place to post this. Someone asked me to pos t a photo of the spring adjuster i put in line for the dualdrive cable.
There is a pen spring in the split in the cable secured by a cable stop clamp. Adjusting the click box barrel adjust the spring tension by pressing the free outer cable on to the spring. It shouldn'tnneed this but it works, so it's Stays! Older picture as android devices don't upload pictures for some reason at the moment. |
