Or maybe....because his ears are ringing now because I'm mentioning his name... he'll answer your question via this thread.

I'm hoping the comfort handle post will bring the handlebar closer to me too, which will possible eliminate the need for a Soma Sparrow type handlebar. I just don't know by how much the Comfort handlepost will bring me closer to the handlebars. Would it give me an additional inch or two?

I don't want to get new handlebars to replace the new t-bar that came with the bike, if I can avoid it. If I have to, it would probably be a Soma Sparrow type handlebar so I can maintain, somewhat, the integrity of the fold.

My overall arm reach (in an upright position) is about 17-18 inches. (Yeah I'm short). Even with the Aber Hallo I now have on the handlebar pointing all the way towards me, my reach is only measuring 20-21 inches. This mean that when I'm riding I'm leaning over, more than I wish too.

BTW, As far as I know, the Comfort handlebars are not yet in. Some mixup in the shipment I think, unless that has changed recently
I just measured my arm ( inseam ) and its 29 inches but I really almost looking to have the handle bars midway of that so my arms are pretty bent .

I did write to Thor via email but he seems to be on break somewhere , no doubt in Asgaard , fighting back the hordes of Loki on his mighty Dahon .

Strance Ia2sei I never saw your post before - thats 2 votes for the soma .

Sunnyflorida , you may want to check out my other thread here about the comfort handleposts for any questions you may have yourself, according to the last response its seems the comfort handleposts wont work with the downtube , Id still rather hear it from Thor himself though.

Maybe something like this would work instead ?

Forestwolf - Don't take my word for it but I don't think the Radius handlepost (comfort or otherwise) would fit a downtube bike. These things seem to be very maker specific.

As far as the Aber Hallo goes, something tells me that this is not maker specific. If you look at the ThorUSA site (which basically seems to cater to Dahon folders) it is mentioned that the Aber Hallo could be used on handlebars with a 25.4 diameter. If your handlebar is 25.4 I'm assuming you can use this to bring the handlebars closer to you.

Folks - If I'm wrong on this, please jump in here.

As far as how close the Aber Hallo will bring the handlebar closer to you, I roughly measured the extender on my folder. Roughly it brought the handlebars closer to me by two inches and that's when it's fully turned toward me.

So with the Aber Hallo (less than 2 inches) and the fact that I brought my saddle as forward as it can go (less than 1 inch), I roughly closed the gap by less than 3 inches only.

Now the distance between the saddle and the handlebars is 22 inches as oppose to 25. I'd like that to be 17-18 inches but I don't think that's going to be possible unless I change the handlebars which may mean I can't fully fold the bike.

Speaking of adjusting and adjustment aids, doesn't Downtube offer anything you can use specific to Downtube folders at all?

Hhhmmmm. I did reread this thread and it seems that you're really trying to make this folder into a possible e-bike? Good luck with that. However, before you go into it, you may want to really cost it out.

It may be that purchasing an electric powered recumbent (two or three wheel) or e-trike or e-bike may come out cheaper, in the long one, than trying to convert a lightweight folder.
