I believe my next folding bike will follow the "less is more" philosophy and will most likely be something like these bikes here. Very inspirational, thank you for sharing.

AFAIK I suggested the inverted seatpost as stem riser originally. Quite a number of years ago now... I used it on a Bike I restored then sold on.

Here is the bike with the stem just fitted.

This bike has a standard steerer setup with expander bolt, so I had to mod the bottom bit into an expander bolt.

Sunny, it does have a coaster brake and it stops just fine. I do plan on installing a front brake for safety as it has been pointed out that if the chain were to come off no brakes. I am thinking of getting a Sturmey Archer front brake hub. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...HAEMN8MNT86D05

I remember you mentioned that before in another thread. I was introduced to the idea by "RidetoGlode" on the Twenty Forum. He says he credits the idea to "the second can of beer" while trying to figure a way to make his bike's cockpit more comfortable. You can both share the credit, but I don't think that sticking something where it wasn't designed to go is a new concept. Ahem.

I took a shot of the Twenty today before I put it in the car. It becomes fairly compact with the bars and seatpost removed for transport.

Fixed up a similar (detatchable) some time back. Also used the seatpost option but decided to improve it a bit. Cut a piece of a 1" stem and had it welded to the slim part of the seatpost. Went for a long treaded rod trough it all to be able to use a quick release on the top.

Just gave the bike to my BF since I bought a new folder last fall.

That's a sturdy looking bike! What is it? That modified stem looks plenty strong and I like the quick-release setup.

An old DBS detatcable, "ninteen seventy something". Heavely modded w a 7 speed hub and bmx rims, new fork ++. It had a one piece faubercrank that I ditched. Glued in (epoxy) a modern BB shell fom a dumpster bike (would have welded if done now) in the oversized BB house so I can use modern BB + crank. Good for a long legged (and a bit heavy) person since the seat tube is longish and therefor the unsupported seatpost do not need to be superlong. Not the fastest "fold" byt a great detatchable travelbike.
