2011 Citizen Tokyo is Here - MANY PICS!

Well she arrived! I felt like a kid going home to unwrap his Xmas presents! The bike is MUCH nicer than I anticipated - packaged well along with super customer service! It appears they redesigned the steering tube hinge as it appears different (better I assume - check the pics) and the overall vibe and feel is like that of a higher end bike than a chinese "Wally World" unit.
Check out the unwrapping!

How long did it take them to send it? I ordered mine last Monday and thought it would be here by now and I live on the east coast only a few states up from FL where they are located.
I ordered the Gotham1.
Nice pictures by the way gives me an idea on what to expect for packaging and unboxing.

Thanks - you should check with customer service on the status of your order - they emailed me and adviused me of the shipping information. I placed my order last Tuesday and was advised of production delays due to high demand. Originally was set to ship today with receipt about 3-4 dayws later. I emailed that I needed the bike by 6/22 and they had it here today - great service! Yours should be coming any day.
Took her for a ride anound the neighborhood and the bike is fantastic - could use a higher final gear but great handling, solid and a blast to ride. I hit the frame with a nice coat of clear lacquer to protect the paint - ready to commute tomorrow!

I should have told them a date as well. I was planning on taking mine with me to Boston this Friday for a week hopefully it arrives tomorrow or Thursday.
I hope mine did not need to be put together in production before they could ship one out maybe that could be the problem. They did RAISE the price though from $269 to $289 three days after my order on the website. No change on my bill though.

I hope you realize this is the start of the dreaded folderitis, where you develop a condition where you are unable to stop yourself from buying more and more folders.

Actually in some weird way folderitis is a cure for bicyclitis.

The colour look very sharp and thanks for sharing your photos! I like the seat because it's white! I didn't buy the rear rack though.

Are the fenders sturdy and tightly fitted? I really should have ordered a set for the wet roads here sometimes.

I really like how citizen has pushed up the asthetics and looks of their bikes, this is actually a really cool colour combo and the tires too! not sure where the heck did they get coloured 16 inch tires but I like it. They are really developing a market for themselves just under dahon. And the bikes in their entire lineup look really chic.

Very nice.
The color scheme has a very calming effect (at least to me).

Thanks for all the pictures. I like the differences from my older model Tokyo. The quick release on the handlebars looks sturdier, and my handlebars are welded to the handlepost, so they can't be adjusted. I also have a light that I thought I could use with the Tokyo, but it attaches to the screw that holds the handlebars in place. No screw, so I can't use it - not that I ride much after dark anyway. The QR on the seatpost looks better than mine too. Let me know if you have much trouble with the seat slipping down during a ride, or having to make the QR so tight, it won't release. Same slow gearing on yours though.

I would say the fenders are the "weakest link" on the bike - they are typical painted steel and attach with steel rods - similar if not identical to cheaper Chinese "box store" bikes that I have seen - functional enough though and should do the trick on wet roads.
Tires are 16" 45 psi rated Kendas and actually ride very nice and support my 230 lbs! I already ordered 100 psi street tread kwests that I plan to install with flat resistant tubes.
So far no issues with seat slippage and as previously stated - that's with 230lbs perched on top!
Appears from the replies that they have in fact made many upgrades to the 2011 model - this really is alot of bike for the money - durability of hubs and bottom bracket will tell the true tale though...

Question: What is the seat to pedal distance with seat at MAX height?

That is one thing I need to get is extra tubes to keep in my pack just in case. I have had to make plenty 3-4+ mile walks home on flats before.

I would suggest installing "thornproof" or "Slime" puncture resistant tubes and keeping the originals as a backup in your travel pack... That's my plan!

If not you can get them on Ebay or Amazon - they cost about twice that of a regular tube (about $8 versus $4) but worth it to avoid flats!
