Shark Folding Bike

Hi,

I've been thinking of getting a folder to use for multi mode commuting. My sister saw this bike at the L.A. county Fair last week. It was selling for $199 however when she called their office she was told that the price went up to $249. Below is the link to the youtube ad. It's called a Shark Bike.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tMJ2R...e_gdata_player

Is this bike sturdy enough? (i'm about 175lbs)
Is it easy to maintain and are parts easy to get for this bike?
Is this made by the same makers of the A-Bike?

Thanks in advance for your feedback. I don't have a folding bike and would like to know if this bike is a sound investment for me. My sister's offering to shoulder half of the price and have it shipped to Manila. I've read some not too good feedback about A-Bike copies and this is my concern with this bike.

Andy

I would advice against it. If it is going to be used on perfect (no potholes) paved road, then, maybe yes.
I have been in Manila and seeing how the roads and the traffic goes there, I don't it is suitable.

There was a Youtube video (Top Gear?) some years ago that featured the A Bike. The rider commented that the ride experience is like having a "butt surgery", or something to that effect.

I was thinking along the same lines. Since there aren't any dealers around here I don't think there'll be any after sales service and support. Thanks.

thanks for the suggestion. I told her I'd pass up on her offer. My best bet is to look around for pre-owned Dahon units in my city. I'm sure I'll find one. When I do, I'll post pictures.

Surely it's just another A-bike copy, $249 that would be madness!

Bikes: Microbike, but I want to own a Carryme

It has to have very good mechanical stability to live up to that very high price.

I could compare a real A-bike with a faked such and if this one is as good as the real
then it at least can be used on short trips on smooth streets but if it is as bad as the faked
one I tested then one have thrown good money on a disaster that should not be allowed to be sold.

The real A-bike is not very good as a bike but I had better balance on the A-bike than on my Strida 3.x
I was less dangerous in my riding on the real A-bike compared to how I am all over the street on my Strida.

I almost always fall when trying to be riding Strida. I guess my brain is too slow for it's nimbleness.
