I am a bit confused about this. The attraction of a B&W travel case is that you can just fold the brommie and put it in.
That's according to NYCEwheels which even has a video showing it happening via this..
so why do some suppliers say you have to remove the seatpost and/or padding - in which case I have a case that does that...
Which is correct, anyone know ?

Apparently they fit in this case .. bottom of the page: https://foldabikes.com/PriceListHTML/npricelist.php

(you measure the case? or bike, or are fishing for one of the case owners)
to supply that interior measurement, [not me, just noting how few BF people
seem measure things]
do you have measurements of the minim. ? your bike, folded.

The fit for the saddle is tight. We replaced the stock saddle with a bit bulkier one and we need to orient the saddle very specifically to make it fit within the case, while not taking the seatpost out. I can imagine that a still bulkier saddle might force one to take the seatpost out. The position of the saddle relative to the seatpost might matter too.
To provide further detail, our Brompton is equipped with a rear rack and a U-lock is attached to the frame. In my memory, we might not even have to take off that U-lock to make the bike fit. My overall impression though is that the specific case was adapted for Brompton rather than designed for Brompton from scratch.

A saddle adapter pin, lets the saddle come off the post without re adjusting it,
since the penta clip is fitted to the SAP horizontal tube..
Do it a lot and an option is the fitting a QR.

thanks very much for the help 2_i and fietsbob, both really useful. I think (when a little more flush) I will get one. I have an S version without rack and with the standard saddle. The idea of no disassembling at all, and the good wheels and handle on the case really appeal. And at the moment it seems comparatively cheap in the UK -- £140 stlg (about $210US)
