Folding bike meet Sun 16 September 2012. Yes even the traditional English pie was had by all for lunch! Cycling strictly was through Hyde Park, then by large crowds at Buckingham Palace (We duly waved, alas no photos!) who were waiting for a parade & crossed over bridge to the South Bank to have our pies!

That is Diode100's bike. It is a Chinese made bike that was marketed in the US with a Nexus 4 speed hub & back-pedal brake. I will let him fill you in on the rest.

Hi, it's an iXi, designed by a South African gentleman I believe, made in Taiwan for the american market, and briefly available in the UK through the Conran Shop for the princely sum of Ł990, suffice to say few were sold; the one I have was found by chance on ebay and was the Conran demonstrator. It may well be the only one in the UK, but if it's not I'd be pleased to hear from any other owners, UK or worldwide.

There have been a couple of threads on the bike in this forum, so search away. I've not ridden it far, today being the longest ride, it runs great on smooth surfaces, but gets a bit jangly on the even mildly rough, the gears are very tall for a town bike (Mr Thunder Calves Mulleady reckoned he would be able to get a fair top speed out of it today, and no doubt would have done so if the South Bank had not been so crowded), and the coaster brake has suicide tendencies. there are all kinds of things reputed to be secreted away in the nose cone, seat tube, and inside the separable frame, but to date i have only looked inside the nose cone, at Jefmcg's request today, and all we found was an allen key.

p.s. Mulleady, a bit of bikeforums searching has revealed I got my Brooks saddle last July, so I don't think you had seen it. You have a scary memory for detail! Diode actually saw it and me on the day I bought it, but I was so busy trying not to crash with tears in my eyes that I didn't see him (later worked out how to tilt the nose down a bit, and I stopped crying!)

My bike is up nooth. Nooth of the border that is...
If y'all are gathering before the 3rd of January, I might pop along.

Can do too - Hyde Park is still in the grip of the Winter Wonderland but that should at least offer alternative refreshments to the Turpentine Cafe - Alas I see no pies on the menu.

Seems we can't garner a Forum Quorum for Sunday 30th so it will have to be next year.

When are the HPFBS Presidents available?
