Brooks expressly for Brompton?

I'm a little confused about something I've been seeing online in regards to Brooks saddles on Brompton. It seems that some dealers indicate that you can buy a Brooks B17 specifically intended for use with the Brompton. To me, they just look like Brooks B17 specials, with the hand-hammered rivits and edge detailing.

The product description usually says "Made for Brompton", which could be taken literally. Maybe they are just referring to the included pentaclip.

Is Brooks actually making special seats with the B17 mold expressly for Brooks, or is this a wordy marketing name to suggest that the Brooks works well with the Brompton (which I believe to be true)?

I guess this question was already answered here. Can anyone confirm/shed some light?

Thanks in advance

The Pentaclip is a Brompton product*, you can order a new Brompton with a B17.

As a large manufacturer they have suppliers that ship
their component parts, contract ordered in bulk.

I got the last X series upgrade Brompton offered, a few years back,
Vitesse with a different Rail bend batch, sourced from Fizik in Italy.

* best saddle clip for plain seat-posts, $30 on its own,

Brooks used to do 'personalised' saddles for various bike makers, Moulton and Brompton being two of them. It involved stamping a logo into the saddle tops and perhaps different colours or other details. I think Brooks has changed direction now more towards limited edition saddles. The last time I looked, the Brompton Brooks saddles were B17 Specials with no obvious differences.

There was no brown Brooks B17 speical with copper plated rails in the old Brooks catalogue, so the brown Brooks B17 Speical saddles with copper plated rails were exclusively made for Brompton in the past.

However, according to the new catalogue, there are two more colours of Brooks B17 special saddle to choose from including the brown one.

Therefore, no Brooks B17 Special saddle made exclusively for Brompton anymore.
