Brompton Skate Wheels Bearing Sleeve
I've been looking putting Skate wheels on a Brompton but one thing keeps sticking out in my mind. If the the Screws for the Wheels are 5mm and the 608 Bearings on the Roller blade wheels are 8mm then how do you close the gap? Is everyone just Ignoring the gap or is there something out there to fix this. I've Been looking under bearing sleeves or adapters and even a top hat, I only pulled up a few things.
First is another person who has the same question found at the bottom of this thread. (second post by makeinu)

This is a person who did find a Sleeve a "Bronee" sleeve that I cant find anywhere. (tried to PM but I cant, don't have enough posts)

And this website has Bearing Sleeves that i can but that im assuming will work.

Also I keep seeing people call it M6 screw is it 6mm or 5mm?

Bikes: Brompton, Dahon Vitesse D5
6mm for the wheels near the seat tube, 5mm for the far end rack wheels.
The easiest solution I found is to buy some pvc/nylon tubing from ebay, 8mm OD, 1mm thickness. Dirt cheap, easy to cut.

When you say thickness are you referring to what they're calling "wall" For example: 5 mm ID, 8 mm OD, 1.5 mm WallWhy does the wall/thickness matter? If it says ID is 5 and OD is 8 would the 1mm thickness bring it to 9mm od?
Thanks again

tube wall thickness is a radius. 1/2 D (8-5=3)/2=1.5
5 +(1+1)=2, or7mm
you might find a piece of tubing with the right OD
to match the bearing ID
then tap out the Inside to the 6x1 thread, of the bolt it's going over.
then cut the tube length in the thickness of the bearing.

Thanks guys. I've found both sizes of tubing and I've also found
1 bronze sleeve, can't find one for 6m tho. https://www.amazon.com/Oilite%C2%AE-S...5999854&sr=1-6
the sleeves are alot more cost effective tho. I'll keep looking

I copied the word as it appeared on the actual purchase receipt. It was written in longhand rather than printed as the hardware store does not have a fancy computerized system-the cash register was the old fashioned mechanical type dating from the early part of last century. I don't know much about hardware or it's unique vocabulary. I hope the photographs will suffice.

Lol ok that makes alot of sense. I tried looking on google for a this magic Bronee sleeve but Bronze sleeve makes more sense. Like I said I found bronze sleeves for the back wheels but not the front. I guess I should check my hardware store and see what they have, but I'm surprised i cant find any online.

Yawn... Found what I was looking for. Used the Keyword Bore instead of ID and these came up
5mm https://www.amazon.com/Bunting-Bearin...6008699&sr=1-6
6mm https://www.amazon.com/Bunting-Bearin...6008699&sr=1-1
Should be able to jam one in each bearing and have 1mm of extra room since the bearings are 7mm wide. I'll order it tomorrow I'm sleepy. Thanks for the help everyone.
