There's two on eBay,at least one's been there for awhile. They're neat, but I'd only be interested if it could be made into at least a 3spd.

There is no such thing as a "Brompton Killer" especially from Dahon..... and people will realise that once their Dahon frame hinge starts to wear along with the seat and handlebar stem clamps. I had 2 Dahon MU SL's that both had serious issues within months of purchase..... got my money back and bought a B-spoke Brompton in March 2009 and it has been perfect. One of the many advantages of the Brompton is the fact that with the big wing-nut type frame clamps, the tension / tightness is adjusted correctly each time you do them up, unlike the "too cleaver for their own good" clamps on Dahons that are fiddly to adjust correctly.

I bought a Brompton after owning Dahons and test riding a good selection of folders..... getting the Brompton was the best thing I ever did..... since I bought mine, my sister has bought 4 and I've just ordered myself a new one :D

Bromptons are the best all round folding bike, period :thumb:

Or maybe not

i love retro-futurist artwork. there's a certain willfully ignorant optimism about it. and that mechanical, paint-by-numbers commercial art style that's informed more by architectural drafting than fine art, conveys a certain matter-of-fact (sur)reality to the whole thing. not to mention, gouache on bristol board has such a unique look. completely matte, but the colors remain brilliant. love it..

+1. One of my favorite books that I got back in '83 is "Zany Afternoons" by Bruce McCall which is a hilarious nod to that era of artwork and advertising.

Then you have to get this book:

So much win in there.

If you like your bike choice then fine. But I know of at least 2 posters who have left or reduced their input on these forums due to this issue

I have been gulity of over pushing my preffered bikes in the past, but I have learnt I hope, I have learnt a more balanced approach. I tend to give my prefferences now as a alternative amongst available options.

The former former user "Stomatch" gave a great example of a balanced approach. She was a hugde brompton fan and
An expert on the marquee. However, she always posted informative posts. If she disagreed,as frequenty did she was precise and dignifed in her reponse.

More of the same please. Me included
I am not blaming any poster, its just sometimes points are a little bombarding when you look at the forum as a whole.

Dahon clamps are actually pretty simple and work well. I'm not a huge fan of the Brompton clamps but it is a robust design.

I find this folder
https://www.google.no/search?q=duemi...ih=638#imgrc=_ to be in the same category of "art". About 6 yrs ago I found one in the local dumpster. My attention was drawn to the wery special fork. I pulled it out and had found a master piece- not in performance (a bit heavy, 2 speed kickback) but in crazy futuristic design. A closeup picture of the headtube would show 2000 (as in year 2000 I think) and atoms that hovers around a core. I could try to find my pictures of the bike, not sure if they are close enough to see. Crazy piece of design. :)

i've loved it for a long time, but, alas, it only exists in the world of images for me...

Same here, I gave it to a collector. Not wery practical, I hope he can manage to keep it for others to enjoy in the future. I have seen the bike later, he was interviewed in a newspaper and on the photo, in the backgrount was this bike- and a lot of other bikes :). The pictures you have posted are the same colour as mine, brown and green.

Actually the frontwheel was missing when I pulled it out. After bringing it home I realised what I had found. Went back the next day and found the wheel. I think they had a flat, tryed to repair it and gave up. Fat, cushy, whitewall tyres. Look at the built in lights and the frame/fender solution. I need to print it out and hang it on the wall I think ;).

They cannot expect everybody to agree with them. Different people different opinions. That's the beauty of this forum.

Very elegant design. The saddle seems to be installed backward.

Is there a functional reason for the curvy front fork? More metal means more weight.

the curvy-outy fork makes a built-in front rack.

Saddle is as it should be, it is the seat tube that is in a different place than they normally are- and there is no seatpost. There is a "hinge" in the seattube. Small riders need to angle the seattube forwards, taller or long legged riders like me need to angle the seatube more straight up than in the picture. This way you kind of ruin the cool lines in the bike you can see in the picture. I think I remember that you can slide the saddle for- or bacwards too but not sure.

The bent fork has like smallwheeler said a built in front rack. The front rack has the front light built in. I am sure the bent fork legs also give a small suspension effect, as does the fat tyres.

Not much room for modifications on this bike.

Fine enough. But its not really the point I was attempting to make.
It most get annoying, even for bromton owners, to hear that brompton is the best folding bike period, so many times.
I don't want a forum full of sickafantic mezzo, birdie, diblasi owners either.

Stomatch was great. I've wondered what happened to her... hope she is doing well.

Ihave suggested that maybe she learnt all there was to know about bromptoms and has therfore moved to a higher level of conscousness!

Best Reguards.
