how much does a brompton saddle weigh without pentaclip ?

Folks, I am thinking of replacing my brompton saddle with a bargain spa-cycles own brand leather saddle. But given I have forked out for an SL2- X, it would be silly to buy something that is much heavier. Only trouble is, I can't find a weight for the current standard brommie saddle anywhere online, and I am away from home without my darling brommie. Anyone out there help me ?

Well, based on Clever Cycles claimed weight increase of a Brooks B17 Special over the Brompton Saddle (+217g), the Brompton saddle would weigh 323g since the Brooks is 540g (according to their website).

Which one ? shed the old Molded foam one to a cheap stuff buyer ..

Got the Ones Brompton got from Fizik, with a different rail bend
than the regular Vitesse HP [SJS has those ]

like it better than the new nose with a hand grip ones Brompton ships now..

Most any open from the side type saddle will work with the pentaclip
when the rails are at the upper end of the rail fixing clamp.

so get the TI rail versions if you want.

QBP [in US] has TI rail Fizik Vitesse saddles..

OK thanks guys. JCMK33 - I was thinking of one of these but there clearly is no weight logic or equivalence, only a vanity thing, and as I am broke anyway, never mind. Handsome well priced saddle though.

The lightest traditional leather saddle that I'm aware of is the Berthoud Galibier at a claimed weight of 325g.

I weighed my Brooks and it was about 528, so around that.

The "spare" we have is 332 grams (11.70 oz.). Hope this helps.

I switched to the women's version of the B17 on my Brompton to save weight. I think I prefer it, the standard version is pointlessly long. Unfortunately it says 'ladies' in small lettering on the side but I'm man/manly enough to not be embarrassed by that. Or I'm ladylike enough that it suits me.

We're tipping the scales at 335g for a standard Brompton saddle without Pentaclip.

It appears that Brompton are changing the saddle for 2013, perhaps because the current version is oddly heavy. A similar saddle, e.g. WTB rocket is around 260g.

I believe that they are only changing the color of the saddle rails to a gunmetal like finish.
