I have been lurking here for quite a while in various forums and the education has been great. I have a question as to the interest in a bicycle that has twenty inch wheels and is a non folder. However it would be nice if the seat post and handle bars compressed/folded to give the package a slimmer profile. I have seen the mini velo's ect. but wonder if a lightweight 8 speed with 2.00 tires and low entry would garner interest and lower the price point resulting in better components. I would be interested in this as a travel bike -- pickup/van/rv

Welcome to the fold.

Not quite sure what you are asking about. Price on a bike also depends on the components and if you need it to be shipped. Such bikes can sometimes be bought almost unused second hand but it depends a lot on where you live. Search the forums, such bikes has been discusse more than once.

Do they make a 20 inch tired bicycle with 2.00 tires that doesn't fold? Not a mini velo but something along the lines of the Raleigh shopper with a least 8 speeds, 2.00 tires, regular wheelbase, al. or light weight steel frame, a Tern type stem for compactness and a seat post that easily extends and contracts into the frame. Is there any such animal or is this something that you have to build?

The Origin 8 Bully and the Cannondale Hooligan come to mind as a non-folding, 20", fat tire capable, multi-speed bike ..

Hmm, I'd like to know about the Origin8 Bully myself, since it's impossible to find anywhere. The Cannondale Hooligan is a bit pricy for what you get IMO. But, I'm sure a quick ride on one would probably change my opinion.

Yes, something along the lines of the Origin 8 with an adjustable stem height that retracts into the stem tube and also allows you to turn the bars inline with the top tube. A seat that retracts and foldable pedals makes a nice slim package. Make it light with an 8 speed and keep the long wheel base. I've read about the Xootr Swift and it's about as close as I can get. I would like the top tube lower though. Seems like the folder Mfg.'s could make one of these rather easily. I'd just like a nice compact lightweight 20, lwb, to add as a second bike that fits just about everyone and doubles as a lightweight travel bike for the PU, RV, Van. Thanks for the links. Thanks BM & all the OP'S; Ask and you shall receive. What a wealth of knowledge this forum has been for me. BTW current ride for this Guy is an Expedition Sport that has me into the first front chairing when the wind is blowing. Other wise it's the third most times. My advice to ALL get gears and plenty of them almost bought the 3 speed.
