Nice. Wireless shifting.

Diode100 01-13-13 04:07 AM

Red or Black cable outers, has to be, no option.

snafu21 01-13-13 04:29 AM

You are right, let's do, um... BLACK!

Diode100 01-13-13 04:31 AM

I vote for Red !

snafu21 01-13-13 04:44 AM

Hmm.

mulleady 01-13-13 04:53 AM

Red and black like this?

Done my prep for now, what about you?

snafu21 01-13-13 06:58 AM

I've got a foot-thick pile of Eng. Lang. text books to get through before Feb. It's No Fun.

Here's how to fold a U Muno in the forthcoming snow. Or, not.

Done my prep but have you? Besides going to watch my boyhood team hopefully beat Liverpool now. Then maybe some housework & pop back here later!

mulleady 01-13-13 09:41 AM

And while you were doing all that I vacuumed, dusted and watched Manchester United take down Liverfool. Now to fix the puncture on my Brommy rear wheel!

badmother 01-13-13 10:02 AM

When/if the cables arrive I can set up the drivetrain and go out in the snow, which Badmother has kindly sent over. The snow should be here tomorrow.

So you think I am in control of the weather? Interesting. Woke up to -22C here today, expecting -24C tomorrow. Think I would have changed that if I could (sent it your way maybe..). No (new) snow for a long time so it can not have escaped from here (plus wrong direction).

Car would not start so I plugged in the "engine heater". That helped. Hooked up the trailer and went to pick up a free freezer (if you can call it free when you have to carry it up the stairs from the basement and trough the snow). loaded it up and could not open the car, door locks frozen. The car is a bit incontinent so water sipped innside the locks. This is when you need a lighter.

Put a Dahon stem on my Bromton (to add a bit of glam to the poor thing) last night. Working on a shim in the right size. Pix soon.

And for brake housing (that you have already ordered plenty of), I really like this stuff a lot: http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/M...?ModelID=23407 . Makes a big difference IMO.

thryn 01-13-13 10:12 AM

I just spent the past 20 minutes or so reading this entire thread (and the This American Life retraction) on my, yes, iPhone.

I am now convinced that my next bicycle acquisition must be a folder so that I can hang with you marvelously mad people.

snafu21 01-13-13 01:54 PM

Badmother: "Put a Dahon stem on my Bromton"

It is the only way to make a Brompton desirable. It could catch on. We could both be rich.

Thryn: I am now convinced that my next bicycle acquisition must be a folder so that I can hang with you marvelously mad people.

Thryn baby, just don't, kid, just don't. There are people in here with screwdrivers and powertools. Some of them are English. Many of them own Dahons. You really don't want this. You're too young, too honest. Run kid, run. Flee while you can before 'they' return.

Madbother: expecting -24C tomorrow. Jeez. I knew this would happen. It's dropped to +3 here. Have you left the door open on that freezer in the basement?

Obligatory dull bicycle content:

Mulleady: "Now to fix the puncture on my Brommy rear wheel!" Jeepers! Don't mention p*nct*r*s. Once one turns up, we all get infected. :50:

snafu21 01-13-13 02:03 PM

"And for brake housing (that you have already ordered plenty of), I really like this stuff a lot: (Braided Hose)

Oh, that's wacky stuff. It looks like the fuel hose on the aircraft I fly (An Ikarus C42) . I just bought the low rent red Jagwire stuff from Fleabay. It's supposed to be a cheap build. Duh.

Was 'cheap'.

^^^ Well,, maybe they're not her shoes. They could be, like, the photographers shoes. Who are those two people on the far left under the trees? Are they her parents? Why hasn't she locked her bicycle up? What does it all mean?

mulleady 01-13-13 03:56 PM

And why the need for a padded bra?

She is practicing detachment. Da-om, da-om, da-om...

Snafu, why don't you like "big awfuls"? I got no slower on my Mu SL when I swapped out the kojaks for them. In fact, I got quicker if you consider the risk of a puncture with the kojaks came to 1 in 500km and it costs me at least an hour of my time since I miss my train and have to go buy an inner tube. That's 1km/h average speed drop!

snafu21 01-15-13 01:31 PM

"Snafu, why don't you like "big awfuls"?

Edited:

Werl, there was a spate in 2008 of Big Apples being recommended for everything. But they didn't work for me and I found them heavy[er] and slow[er] but I'm not a commuter.
