Mirror on a folding bike?

How do I mount a mirror on a Dahon folding bike. The problem is when the handlebar post is folded down against the rear wheel. Space is tight when folded.

I prefer to avoid helmet mounted mirrors. I've had many times in traffic feeling blind without a mirror.

Any ideas?

I don't know a Dahon, I have a Bike Friday but I have a mirror mounted in the end of the handlebar. Its a bit loose, to allow it to fold, instead cracking when I hit something but that also means it can be folded when the bike is folded.

We use these on all our bikes including folders. https://www.mirrycle.com/mountain_mirrycle.php

They are the best I've seen or used by a wide margin and pivot out of the way quite easily when the bikes are folded

Works on most Dahons, Terns and Bromptons.

Everyone has their favorite I suppose. I have tried many and this is by far my favorite:

Amazon.com : Bike Peddler Take A Look Cycling Eyeglass Mirror : Bike Peddler Take A Look Mirror Compact : Sports & Outdoors

I always wear some kind of eye protection, usually sunglasses, and this is what I like. No vibration as with bike mounted mirrors, and no need to look down. It is always there but I never notice it until I need it. I never ride without it.

We have two Zefal Dooback mirrors, left and right, mounted on our Brompton. Following advice from other Brompton owners, we mounted them reversely, downward, and they work fine without any problems in folding.

We have a couple of Take A Looks but prefer the Mirrycles.

For some reason the Mirrycles seem to be more vibration resistant than other bar mounted mirrors we tried.

My wife just could not adapt to the Take A Looks. I did adapt but for me they just did not work quite as well as the Mirrycle. Perhaps with younger or different eyes, the result may have been different. I'm getting some new glasses so maybe I'll try them again. FWIW, I got better results clipping them upside down on the side of my helmet visor rather than on my glasses.

Have a look at this Thread ...... https://www.bikeforums.net/folding-bi...s-mirrors.html

I highly recommend the Zefal Cyclop mirror.

Thanks for the replies!

I found a mirror today, at a LBS, that meets my needs. It is the Third Eye Mirror. I am able to fold my Dahon without adjusting the mirror. And it does NOT vibrate.

I am surprised at the MirrCycle recommendation. I can't fold my Dahon without readjusting the mirror. And this mirror DOES vibrate, at least one I already have on another bike.
