Crius Bike
Hi,
I like to point out that the post of the earlier thread's origination as Indonesia, Singapore is in correct. Indonesia and Singapore are separate independent countries.
I noticed that many people have a bias against Chinese products! I purchased a unit of 20-inch Crius foldable bike in August this year. Its price is very attractive compared to all European brands, and at 9.5 kg it is among the lightest bike for this range.
I used it for leisurely ride once a week to every part of our little island state, and is enjoying every moment of it. I had a good buy.
regards,
henry Ong

Bikes: In service - FSIR Spin 3.0, Bannard Sunny minivelo, Dahon Dash Altena folder. Several others in construction or temporarily decommissioned.
A Crius Velocity frame, fork, headset & seatpost goes for USD190 in Singapore, Indonesia...Pick up a set of LitePro wheels for USD125, a Hollowtech crankset & BB for $70, a NOS Shimano drivetrain, and you are well on your way to a pretty decent rig for, say, $600-700. So long as the hinge and the welds are solid, I reckon it's an exceedingly good value. Love this gold disk brake job...

The frame builder maybe subcontractors to Dahon and Tern and Crius. Some of the frames may be sold in big enough quantities that the builder will give them an exclusive on the design. Like the Dahon Speed frame and the Dahon Mu frame.
The inner workings of companies can be convoluted. Sometimes the left hand is doing the exact opposite of the right hand.
An example of different directions is the Ford Dahons. Bikes contracted through Dahon and licensed by Ford to sell in the US. I don't get why either Ford or Dahon would authorize another company to sell bicycles of low quality with their name on them.
The contracting out of all the work to build a bicycle has huge risks. Schwinn had Giant building almost all of their bikes. Schwinn gets in financial difficulty and Giant starts selling bikes under their own name---especially targeting Schwinn dealers.
I don't know if Dahon is building their own frames and assembling them or if they are more just the designers and they have subcontractors build the bikes.

Bikes: to many
27x24x7 with folding pedals
Is roughlyl the folded size of the smart 5
we ship it with regular pedals AND a pair of folding pedals. The original ones are non folding but very nice. Hence if somebody needs extra less space he can use the folding pedals

...and here it is in 2018, the FnHon Monsoon...

I'm not down on China in general. I know we in the music world were jolted when a Chinese manufactured piano bested instruments from Europe, Japan and the USA in a blind test, but after all, China, unlike Europe, Japan and the USA, can put human beings into space. There's junk that comes out of China, but they can also accomplish some pretty impressive stuff when they put their minds to it.
That said, I know nothing of Crius - their reputation, how long they've been in business, their after sale support in your market, etc. A particular Chinese local brand bike might be fine - I just don't know.
To be clear, Crius seems to be building designs 'inspired' by Dahon. They join a looooong list of companies that do so. Separate and apart from that, it's not 'just in case'. Dahon's intelectual property is very definitely stolen and actual counterfeit Dahons are offered for sale. There are other companies, like FNHon and GeHon, that ride Dahon's reputation and branding with look-alike logos and names.
Check out this FNHon 'Helios'. It's even painted the same mango color Dahon has used for their speed bikes since the last millennium:
