Black-Edition Brompton 2015
I want to buy a folding bike. I had a regular bike for 2 years now, I bought it for the commute to work. But I barely used it a few times because it's hard to fit it in the elevator
And also a lot of high-end bikes were stolen at my workplace
So I sold it.
I really like the Bromptons. The folded size is very important to me and I really like the look of it. I know it has old "tech" but I don't really mind.
I am thinking about a M6L. The Brompton shop I contacted said they will receive a new Black-Edition in March, 2015. It will be available in Black, White, Lime Green, Lagoon Blue and Berry Crush.
I want the 6 speed because I have a hill on my commute and my legs are not so strong yet
I may even get the -12%.
What do you guys think about new Black-Edition? Do you like it more than the classic? Is it the first black edition that Brompton has done?
Should I get the rack on the back or put a bag on the front? Which is better?
Also do you know if there is any other difference between the 2014 and 2015 models?

Component manufacturers began many years ago to offer lower lines of parts (cranks, brakes, pedals, bars, seatposts, etc.) painted or anodized black to save the cost of fine polishing. Brompton's always clever marketing department has figured out a way to make these lower spec parts coveted and desirable.

Black is one of the base price Brompton colors.
Here is a Spanish company selling replacement bits and pieces to make it even blacker. Milian PartsMilian Parts - Brompton
and a Korean company offers a Black Alloy seat post with a built in LED array. Built-in Bicycle Tail Light - LightSKIN

I find the rear rack very useful, because I do like to hang my (big) backpack from the saddle's rails and have it rest on the rack. Also I like the little wheels on the rack - they make it convenient to roll the bike when folded.
That said, the front luggage system is really very good. I found the bags too expensive, but the front carrier block and the stand-alone frame are cheap enough - I modified a shoulder bag I already had to hang it from the carrier frame. Works great.
I guess it depends on how much luggage you'll generally carry. I like the flexibility of the rack *plus* the front luggage frame.

2014 M6L, but the measurement should be the same, About 50cm from end of handlebar fixer screw to seat post center horizontally.

Can anyone of you guys with a Brompton 2013-2014 M3R/M6R provide me the distance from the handlebar to the seat post?
A Tape measure shows roughly Center to center seat Post to fork , on the frame itself, is about 24"
