My Youtube Channel

Been thinking about making a youtube channel but can't decide on a topic. I've been watching a lot of youtube videos and most of them are terrible or have gone too commercial.

I'm more interested in the production rather than the topic so I'm open. On the other hand, some of the best video are on topic people know about.

Any ideas on an interesting topics that hasn't been done to death or a different perspective on an old one? When I lived in a house I did raised bed gardening and grew bonsais. What would you like to see?

For most, a successful Youtube channel happens organically. Start uploading stuff that interests you, watch what happens.
There are people who make uploading content a full time job, and some can do quite well.
I just have fun with my channel, and upload something when the creative bug hits, and don't worry too much about how it is received. That said, my channel has passed 3 million views with a handful of videos leading the way.A nice little payment from Google each month helps stretch the pension.

How about "The failure of neoliberal economics and the collapse of the middle class: its implication for friction shifters"?

BTW, someone broke Google today.

But how would I add video to that? 😕

Anyway, I think you're better qualified to tackle that one. I'd subscribe though.

BTW, someone broke Google today.
Which part?

Obviously on the list. But there are so many pro sites already dedicated to that one, so not sure how an individual with limited resources would compete? It would have to be a unique perspective that I haven't figure out yet. Any ideas?

The "Good Enough" bike show. Discussion focused on the knee-in-the-curve of value for money in terms of various bikes/parts. If you have only $100 to improve your bike, do you buy new tires? Cassette? Bar tape? Cables/housing? If you happen upon a 'decent' condition Magna being thrown away, what should you replace before giving it to a kid (you love)? Brakes? Derailleurs? Wheels? Are there any high-end parts that are worth the price premium? Kool-stop brake pads? Teflon-lined housing? Narrow-wide chainrings?

You would have to have access to a lot of mediocre bikes to point out particular parts/features. Maybe partner with a local bike co-op.

You would also have to have a low-rent sensibility that can appreciate the potential utility of a crappy bike.

To take cats shopping or go looking or cats? Maybe it should be an online comedy channel? Apparently BF has a lot of undiscovered talent.

A lot of BF posters think they are funny and their posts are oh-so-witty and clever. I suspect they will remain undiscovered and for good reason.

I got one of my cats from an extra on SNL. Does that make me even more special?

That depends, what kind of cat is it?

Now that you mention it, weird and/or exotic animals could make for an interesting channel. I need to investigate.

A "black" cat huh? And they say there's no comedic talent here. Can it do any tricks?

This is a good one. There are people keeping tigers as pets, private roadside "zoos," gators, hippie farms in California, and a place nearby where you can throw bread at retired movie bears. People love animals, the weirder the better.

Her best trick was changing from a scared feral cat to a pampered indoor princess (kind of like ahposo), but her days of doing tricks are in the past now.

You could chronicle your attempts to teach yourself fire eating or sword swallowing. I'd tune in.
