What would make a bike a "bike of the household"?

That's how black I want my dream bike to be. It would definitely be a fixed gear. One of these days I'll build one up...one of these days.

bought one of these tonight and picking it up Saturday, sooner if I can get a pick-up truck. Only differences are that mine has bigger tyres, steel tank, front brake, shock boots and is in better condition. 1983 Honda 185 CT.

Yep, it would have to be. A lot of the bits for a geared bike would be difficult, if not impossible to find in straight black. Even so, if one were to be anal about it (and I would! ), some custom painting/anodizing/powdercoating would be necessary to black out a few nuts and bolts and other details, and that's on top of the painstaking delabeling of everything.

I have a feeling it would turn into quite a project. It'd be worth it, though.

Well, my father just finished working on my mom's cruiser so now my parents can go on rides together. Aww.... It's kinda cute to see my parents on their cruisers together. It reminds them of when they were younger. Here is her bike. I think it's an old Schwinn when they made in Chicago.

Stealth as night

This person has the right idea of what I would like to do but I wouldn't build it with risers. I would either build it with horns or with drops.

Oooh, that's getting there. Still, though, axle nuts, chainring bolts, the chain, seat rails, and the logos on the stem and seatpost (told you I'd be anal about it. ) have to go, and it needs some nice, smooth, classic bend drop bars. Oh, and if I get to be picky, make it a lugged steel frame. Just because you can't see it, doesn't mean it shouldn't be as elegant as possible!

Nice cruisers, by the way. Almost makes me want one, though I wouldn't really have a place to ride it.

in the previous frame, the extender was uptop, to use less spacers. this frame, i wanted a little bit slacker handling, so just put it in that way.

*ahem* hack mechanic moment: that headset cup and the extender are pretty much cold welded together now... not enough anti-seize used on the original install years ago... if you look closely enough, you can see the lettering that lets you know the cups are in reversed from the norm, due to the above screwup by moi.

oops.

I got a few video's of some first gear pulls through the mudbog behind it if anybody is interested, they are kinda low quality though.
