I agree, most of the stuff they make looks like it would be very uncomfortable to ride, and a lot of them, while cool, are just way too gaudy. I don't ride and don't think I ever will, because I've had my skull sawed in half once and don't want to go through that again, but I really admire vintage bikes... From the plain old 70's Honda and Yamaha trial bikes, to Vincents, Indians, and Harleys. Some new bikes are cool, like you have to respect the power of the bigger Hayabusas and whatnot, and I've seen some really nice looking BMW bikes, but I just love the 30's-50's styles.

I've talked to a couple guys who are really into choppers and they claim the worst part is they don't even actually make a good bike. The only reason they got so big was because of the show, not because of their actual bikes. People actually looking to buy that type of bike go to different builders, don't remember the ones they rattled off.

I would prefer one of Russell Mitchell's Exile Cycles bikes in the line of the Hotrod or Night Train or something by Bourget if I were to ride a chopper.

The show only survives because Paul Sr. is an overbearing jerk and his disfunctional relationship with his kids makes for reality TV.

I found Monster Garage to be much more amusing.

I suffered through about 2-3 episodes. Each bike was an amazing piece of work that broke new ground in chopper excellence. The crew managed to meet the tight deadline even when things went wrong or if they had to fabricate a fabrication. When they took a dump, that counted as fabricating a doody. And yelling & screaming & throwing things.

Awful, ugly, worthless piles. Choppers are ugly and clumsy to begin with, OC Choppers had the rare ability to make them worse.

Check out a Knucklehead from the 30's. Harley has never been able to make a bike that looks better. The English bikes from the 30s to the 60s were beautiful and functional within the limits of their design. For me, I'll take the GS and KZ/GPZ series from Suzuki and Kawasaki. Some of the best street bikes ever. My GPZ 750 could do everything. Raced the canyons and toured the U.S. on it. Did it without looking like a chromed-out Gothic wedding cake.
