Changing how the threads get updated

Currently all threads move to the top as they are posted, assuming that you click on New Posts. Why not change this so that all postings to politics and religion are *not* updated? It wasn't too long ago when pretty much all the active threads were about cycling. Now the really active threads are essentially trolling threads. If the threads in politics and religion weren't updated, then anyone who cares to get into a fight over a "hot" button political issue is welcome to have at it but when you click on New Posts, the only posts are those that actually have something to do with cycling.

Probably not a big deal since you can just ignore the trolling threads but lately it seems that those threads are exploding. Personally I'd like to kick them down so that they don't ever pop up when you click on New Posts.

I don't think I've been granted permission (or requested permission) to those sub-forums, so it is rare that I see the threads. You might be able to request being deleted from the list.

Another forum I a member of doesn't have politics, but leaves sub forums like "new theories" out of the recent topics list, for better or worse. The forums that don't get to the recent topics list get far fewer comments.

What might be nice would be a check list one could check each forum one wished to see on the recent topics list. So, one might also ignore distant regional discussions, although some are interesting.
