I guess no one saw my work-around so I am posting again

I downloaded FireFox Focus from the App Store on my iPhone and iPad. I don’t use the app but I just use its content blocking features it provides to Safari. I turned on use content blocker under Safari in the iDevices Settings and set it to Firefox Focus and I have been using this site for over 2 weeks and no more of these ads. In fact browsing has seemed to be faster.

I got on (iPhone) but it wasn’t painless.
4 times I got re-directed but now
I’m bouncing around between “new posts” /pages/threads like normal.

Seems to help to immediately select a thread before the
pop- up takes over
Then “cancel” then “<“ back
? ?

I use an Android tablet.
I can second that. Shutting off JavaScript on my iPhone stopped the problem. It's not optimal, but I can still access the vast majority of BF functionality without the ads taking over.

To be honest, we really DON'T want you all to be experiencing this.

Please trust me when I say that our techs are working on this. Its a larger problem than just here, it's hit many many sites, all over. Yes, you say it's only here, but other sites are indeed affected. We are NOT ignoring you, nor is the issue that we don't care. We really do. It's affecting not only you, but those that work for this forum as well.

We understand that it's annoying and frustrating, because... WE have it too.

Again, we apologize for the inconvenience.

Just to add to the chorus - I was having the same Amazon/virus warning redirects earlier today. I'm not exaggerating one bit when I say that it makes the site unusable; click on my forum bookmark, wait three seconds and boom - Amazon/virus warning. Every time. No other sites affected. Android phone, Chrome browser.

I, too, turned off JavaScript for the time being (with exceptions for other websites that need it), but this is a Band-Aid that shouldn't be necessary.

I use Chrome with AdBlock running on my desktop. I haven't got the redirect since. I was still getting them on my phone, last I checked.

If you are CHROME, mobile, you can try this:

  • Load chrome://flags/#enable-framebusting-needs-sameorigin-or-usergesture in the browser's address bar.
  • Switch the status of the "Framebusting requires same-origin or a user gesture" experimental flag from default to enabled.
  • Restart the Chrome browser.

Cool, thanks - hadn't seen your previous post, but seems to be hunky dory (passed all of the redirect tests posted a couple pages back, too).

Ad blocker seems to help

For the last month or so this site has been essentially unusable on my iPhone using Safari.

Yesterday I downloaded the Purify ad blocking app and activated it in Safari.

Seems to have taken care of the problem. Been browsing BF for a while with no issues.

Purify is $2, but I would imagine the free ones probably work as well.

I enjoy the content, but won't put up with this.
No I don't want to go premium, use normal adds.
Too difficult to submit a screenshot on mobile but this page continuously hijacks any open thread:

It has gotten foolish to not run an ad-blocker. Support your sites direct.

I have 5 script/ad/tracker blockers running...RBR serving bitcoin miner malware still made it through--but got stopped by 3rd party AV (NNOT by MSE though). Said script was JS and therefore cross-platform and my phone got hit by it (took a factor reset to clear out).

BF.net hasn't gotten hit but MTBR and RBR goty hit hard (and their lack of administration made it last a month), BF.net will get hit sooner or later.

Not to make bones about it, but you did miss the point.

It's not a personal vendetta by the owners to make your life the double toothpick.

It also doesn't bother me when I'm not logged in and I don't see ads when I am because I'm a Ti Club member

But I ALSO see that 99 percent of you with the problem seem to use mobile devices.

Did all that prefetching issue (that's what the L1 on your chips is about) get patched and did it make a difference?

I don't think it helped that, because that wasn't what it was about.

All I hear from a few of you is YOU fix it, I don't need to do a thing.

Which hasn't been true at all. We all spent plenty of time here helping Tom Stormcrowe get the kinks out of vB4 when we were the first to use it back then, we were the Beta testers. There seems to be a world of difference now.

It's not irrelevant, and it's your fault if you don't explore the possibilities and simply wear your thumbs and mind out suffering.

BF's MUP is a two-way.

No I didn’t miss the point, you did. If I were to go online to any website and they redirect me to crap ads that make the site unusable, I don’t try to fix it on my end, I just stop going to that site all together and that is really what I need to do with this site, but I am just being stupid and stubborn for not following my own advice. It’s really just time to stop my stupid irrational behavior and give up on this site for good. And after nearly 17 years that is hard seeing I have been here longer than any admin I can find.

Amazon Congratulations spam-

I've also found Bike Forums to be unusable on my iPhone due to "Amazon Congratulations" spam taking over my browser. I purchased an ad blocker called Ad Block but it doesn't seem to help. I've tried attaching a screen shot. Thanks.

Let them give the stuff to somebody else anyway. One caused you to get the other two, which are causing your misery.
