Forum Format Change
Has the forum layout changed? When I opened it tonight it opened to a view showing trending threads. I am interested is a couple of topics and generally just go to them. I can do that by clicking on the Forum Directory button, but much prefer to make the old school forum Layout the default but can figure out how to do that

Firefox memorizes many of my favorite topics.
So, I type in "Mec" and get: https://www.bikeforums.net/bicycle-mechanics/'
"get" to get: https://www.bikeforums.net/search.php?do=getnew
"foo" for: https://www.bikeforums.net/foo/
etc.
I hadn't found the "Trending" (bikeforums.net/) until I found this topic.
I am surprised at how many July 18 and July 19, 2018 topics are hot trending topics!!!

The “trending” thing turned MTBR into a dumpster fire for a little while until they filtered the off topic forums out of it
Pretty soon it will be full of the usual ****posters

I don't see the issue; I've been using the new posts button to browse every forum I've been on for the last 20 years. I have not seen this trending page yet.
Getting logged out everytime I visit since the spam bots hit has been kinda annoying tho.

But someone bumped my thread in long distance about Morton's neuroma and I'm glad that it's not on the trending page even thought it's getting some traffic. Lots of people have ideas on how to fix my 10 year old problem, apparently.

The new format is Just plain RUBBISH……if you click on the BF banner it takes you to this trending nonsense. Same thing happens when your in a tread and click home. Why not give logged in users the ability to choose what their homepage is .
Has to be something about web page hit counts . That can be the only reason for adding new layers that must be navigated through to get to where you want to go.
Obviously those that approved this new format are not subscribers of keeping it simple.

Is the style BikeforumsNG our only option for Quick Style Chooser? Is this the new Layout permently? How about a Dark Version?

As you speculate, they found out there is more user engagment with a front page like this on their other forums. We're told that turning it off will be an option soon.

I have wondered what the story is with those phone numbers they put in the title. It would be funny to pit one group of spammers with another by hiring whoever it is that calls me repeatedly playing a message in Chinese saying I'm going to be deported

I hope the bicycles come back with the notification dot as to whether a sub forum has new posts or not. The new graphic replacing the bicycle and the graphic for reporting a individual post seem to be of low resolution and are really annoying to my eyes.
Hopefully all this is temporary for things that may have gotten messed up during the SPAM blitz or what ever went on while I was away for a few days.
