During the Apollo 11 landing descent from lunar orbit to the surface, the crew had made an error in leaving one of the antennas still receiving, and the landing guidance computer memory filled up, and they'd get this alarm, *** but then the computer rebooted or reset state and continued ***. Several times this happened and in each case, no need to abort landing. This was due to *** fault-tolerant programming ***, a real innovation. The woman (IIRC) who wrote that code for the landing guidance computer was highlighted in a video I saw years ago.

Judging from this most recent DB error and time to correct, the techs may have implemented this solution; Sense overload or too much comm from one source, terminate process, reboot. If so, or other solution, kudos.

Note: During the Blue Screen Of Death era, that was a notable example of NOT having fault-tolerant programming.
I believe this is called the “Windows Fix”.

Magaret Hamilton. She was the director of the team, so she didn’t write all of it.

Install tire savers on your browser to prevent these issues.

Still happening intermittently for me, on Android and Windows, most frequently when coming back to a Chrome tab that had the forum previously open and trying to refresh. But also when typing in the URL in a fresh browser tab.

Oxidation of chrome is a big problem for us classic bike collectors. My chrome could sure use an update.

It's a reminder to all of us that there are other things to do with our time. Ride a bike maybe? Get in shape for spring!

Is It Down Right Now website is an easy way to independently verify that the site is down, it's not you or your computer or software. It pings the site and will give a red or green message about the site, and also time it has been down (I don't know how it knows that, or if just based on the last time it was requested to ping the site):

https://www.isitdownrightnow.com/

You can pull it up fast in your browser by just searching for iidrn, it will come right up in results.

I'm still getting the error, but it seems to be corrected MUCH faster than at the beginning of recent events. I sense some corrective coding by the techs to combat aggressive web crawlers.
