Were all of the replies and threads of 8/27 lost? I don't see any out there anywhere.

I posted a thread yesterday that had some replies that I had not yet read - it was important to me.

I'm not complaining, just wondering. I love this forum and I love the application. I am a software architect and totally understand the technical glitches that can happen from time to time.

So far, Joe has been working to try and restore the database.

As of now, posts from July and August were affected by the corrupted database.

Please be patient as he works to restore as much of this problem as possible.

Thanks,

Koffee

Whatever Joe wants to do is what I want to do. Never hurts to try, does it?

You feel me?

Dang, I knew I had made some posts yesterday. . .

I was beginning to think I had zoned out the entire day and just dreamed I had made some posts.

You guys are freaks!

Ok, here goes the correction- Joe is looking to restore the forum to it's previous condition prior to the corrupted database problems. Please be patient as we work through these problems.

There you go- especially for you, Ritalin, since you have a particular fetish for sentence structure, syntax, and content.

KB: I didn't mean anything by it

I just think it's great how everyone understood you meant even though you didn't mean what you said :^)

that's why i love the english languge (well, other languages could have this happen too but i don't know any others well enough to catch things, I barely know English)

I know you were kidding... I love ya anyway...

As someone with a degree in English (well, Rhetoric, but same-same), I should have known better to check my sentence content!

I personally think that we've bastardized this language enough to call it by another name. I speak 'merican!

I love this quote:

"The problem with defending the purity of the English language
is that English is about as pure as a cribhouse *****. We don't
just borrow words; on occasion, English has pursued other
languages down alleyways to beat them unconscious and rifle their
pockets for new vocabulary."
[James D. Nicoll]

Edit: Those '*****' in the quote aren't in the original text, neither did I include them. {sigh!} The word excised rhymes with 'door', okay?

Hey we make up our own words too!

They just added "bling-bling" to Webster's Dictionary. Where does he think we stole that name from?

She is!

However, a quite a few new "words" were added to the Oxford English Dictionary, including "gangstas" "new jacks" "def" "jiggy" "breakbeat" "dope" and "phat" as well as others...

No dude... I'm serious! They added "bling-bling" when they updated the Webster Dictionary a few months ago:

Hmmmm.... looks like the Oxford English Dictionary also added bling bling as well too.

Maybe I'll change my name to bling bling. I kinda like how it looks.

I have to believe that the publishers of these dictionaries are just adding words as a ploy to beef up sales. 10 new words added for the nth edition!!! I cannot and will not accept "gangstas" as a legitimate word in proper english. B4 u no it dis will B legit in 'glish class. I for 1 kizzant w8! Scrabble will B EZ!
