A thread is converted to sticky by a mod. If the thread grows into something of timeless value, it
may be turned sticky. I don't think any thread starts as sticky with the original post.

Unless it's a Mod/Admin who is making the original post with the intention of it being a sticky.

I've helped initiate a couple stickies on BF, so I know it can be done. I think the best route is to start a discussion thread on the subforum and try to get other users to agree that the proposed sticky would be useful. Then PM a mod or three and ask them to focus on the discussion. If there's general support, they'll be glad to help you start the sticky. In general, I think it's better to start the sticky with a new OP, rather than just make the discussion thread into a sticky.

When you start a discussion, sticky or not, be sure to select a thread title that both accurately describes the content, and also grabs attention.

If you wish to start a thread that you think is worthy of a sticky, contact one of the moderators. (Now that I reread the thread like I should have the first time - Its monday give me a break) - sending a pm to either Lotek or myself would be the best bet. HOWEVER, C&V right now has a lot of sticky threads right now. Lotek and I have been discussing combining and reducing them recently and it is fairly unlikely that we will be adding any new sticky threads till after that is done.
