Save Draft?
Hey Mods,
Is there any way to save a draft of a post and come back to it later? I'm planning a build report of my bike with a complete parts list, linked to sources that I bought parts from, linked to various other posts where BF discussions have helped me choose parts or resolve problems, etc. It will be quite involved and I don't think I'll be able to complete it in one sitting (or from just one computer)
Is there any functionality to save a draft?
If not, I guess I can just work some, copy & paste plain markup to a local text file, cancel the post, and then come back later start a new post again, paste in my old markup, work some more, etc. but it would be easier if I could save and return.
In any case, thx for all the hard work you guys do!

There is an 'Auto Save' function that is enabled by default. So long as you don't cancel or post content somewhere else, you should be able to right click and restore...
Just tried to verify for myself. You don't right click- there is a 'restore auto saved content' button at the lower left corner (where the report button would be if viewing a post). Click on that and it should repopulate what you had typed before.
I typed the first 'paragraph', then opened up a different tab, closed the first one, then restored and added to the original (as you see it now). There is a notification that pops in yellow in the lower right corner of the text field that lets you know the content has been auto saved, I think it cycles like every two minutes. Wait until you see that notification before closing or run the risk of losing data.
You won't see the restore button after posting (just tried) or hitting the cancel button. If it is truly going to be an epic post, you might want to take the time to make your own back up just in case the server has a hiccup

Heycool, I just tried that out too, but perhaps even more extreme;
I waited until I saw the "Auto-Save" notification (for me came up in lower-right of text box -- maybe a FFox rendering vs other browsers?). Then I copied the URL in the browser location bar, then FIRST I closed my working tab, then I opened a new tab, and pasted in the URL, and found the "restore auto-saved content" button in the LL of the edit box, voila!
ALSO, I closed the working tab, navigated back to BF/Forum Suggestions & User Assistance, and clicked "Forum Tools/New Thread" and also found the "restore auto-saved content" button that got me back to where I was.
I will leave that there and see if it recovers into my home computer tonight as well.
Although I guess for safety I will end up backing up markup text into a local file as well.
I don't know how epic the post will end up being, it will certainly be a reference I will come back to many times, I just hope it can be helpful for others too.
