Funny how Google works, I went looking for "root rot" ( I have a sick tree). I found Chris Root instead. Chris is (or at least was) an amateur framebuilder who put together several good looking frames. he goes into some detail about what he did, including his home made jigs . Lots of revelant links though some are dead.
