AL with no Aging process?

Hi

Just wondering if there is some Aluminum tubing able to being weld w/o having to do an post heating process or aging process?

Bikes: Homebuilt steel

Columbus used to sell a tubeset made from Al-Mg 5000 Alloy which did not need heat treatment. Seems to be discontinued these days though.

Bikes: Univega Alpina 5.1 that became a 5.9, that became a road bike... DMR TrailStar custom build

Strength in solid-solution strengthened aluminium alloys is a best mediocre and at worst dire. The welding process irreversibly destroys the only possible route to strengthening in the material - the dislocation pileup of cold work. There's no acceptable metallurgical reason for using such alloys in bike frames.

Aren't 7005 frames from the Orient typically not artificially aged?
