cutting and re-using lugs

i have a bunch of old ratty lugged frames sitting around with very standard lugs.

could i unbraze them, cut them into more fancy designs, and rebraze them with new tubing within the limits of the lug geometry?

id love to get into frame building but theres alot of skills involved for me to learn!

Bikes: Homebuilt steel

The more torch time you experience the better so go ahead and see if you can get the frame apart. Don't expect a whole lot of success with getting usable lugs this way though - many framebuilders just scrap the lugs when doing a repair unless it's a critical to save them...which is a lot more work.
