PaPa, where are the shift levers on your "beater"? (Probably a silly question, but I can't see them in the photo).

Airburst, The first images were taken the day after paint by a visiting relative (it was also sans the rear brake and cable at the time). The image below is a more recent grab of the same 'bent, taken by me. Resprayed and built at the request of one of my grandkids.

Thank you. The 'serious' rake is necessary to eliminate excessive trail, thus eliminating dreaded 'flop'.

A little thing I slapped together 27 or 28 years ago and raced on when I was a kid. Dug it out of my mother-in-law's basement last fall and semi-modernized it. It's also in the Franken-bike thread due to the mish-mash of parts.
It could use a new paint job. I wanted to see if I still liked it before putting any $ into it.
It rides pretty well, I'm happy to say.

Those colors were really based on my first team colors. I'm thinking of repainting it and adding some braze-ons, but can't decide on a color ... too many choices.

The race machine. 2.6lbs frame. Bamboo and carbon. This was actually too stiff to be a daily ride. This bike weighed 14.5lbs.

British style fixed gear touring bike, thrown together with tubes and lugs from various abandoned projects. Mostly Reynolds 531, with some True Temper thrown in. Lugs are probably a mix of Henry James and Long Shen. Fork blades are 531 Imperial oval with Nervex crown.

6 jours, are those the 27mm Dugasts you have on there? I'm going to need to replace this last pair of Clement Campionato del Mondo's sometime this year and was looking at the 27mm cotton Dugast's...if they're worth the expense.

Yes, they are. They ride as well as the del Mondos but are much more difficult to mount. For the price they ought to be perfect, but as far as I can tell they are the only fat tubulars left.

Did you make the carbon lugs yourself?

Go with FMBs, they are by far the better tire.

What makes them better? In my experience, all handmade tubulars of the last few decades are perfectly round, perfectly straight, roll wonderfully, and are very puncture resistant. While some have been slightly better than others, I have never seen one anywhere near "by far better" than any other one.

Just finished the seat cluster on my frame (number one, rando geometry). I used a semi-wrap style that was inspired by an Ebisu:

Updated, got most of the braze-ons done (only the chainstay bridge remains to be done), and spent much of my free time this past week doing clean-up. I'm quite happy with the seat cluster.

I should finish it this week, and will send it off to FreshFrames once I'm done all of the cleanup. So far, I'm thinking of going with a dark orange with cream colored head tube and seat tube panels for the color scheme.

In progress FWD Trike. Waiting for a lazy welder to showup. Some important areas will be welded and the rest of the steel brazed. Not all tubes shown. Rear frame and front BB frame slide in and bolt to center drive aluminum power assy.

here is the first bike i built. i was originally going to scrap the frame after i cut the brake bracket off the front shocks that i had on it but i decided to build it just for kicks. i decided to cut and weld the front shocks to the rear. i welded the brake bracket from the shocks to a set of forks that were ment for 26 inch tire so that i could use a 20 inch tire in the front and stop. the only real difficult part was finding cables long enough to reach the shifters for free. i built and painted this entire bike for free.
