Hello to everyone!
I have a question concerning changing OLD of a frame. I have an aluminium trek cruiserliner bicycle which had 3 speed shimano internal gear hub. Now I'm changing it for nexus 8 speed hub. The previous hub (i.e. 3 speed) had OLD of 128 mm. The new hub's OLD is 132.3 mm. I tried to widen OLD by inserting threaded pin with two nuts and turning them. However it seems impossible to widen OLD. I've widened it up to 170 mm, but still dropouts return to their original position after I remove the pin .
Is it ok to the hub to widen over locknut distance of the frame by 4 mm and insert the hub? I don't mind having some inconvenience when removing/installing the wheel.

Hmm.. Wouldn't do what? Cold set the frame? Or insert 132 mm hub into 128 mm frame?
