Thinking about a Mikkelson, thoughts?

Hey ya'll, been yearning for a nice steel road bike for quite a while now, and I would LOVE to have a custom bike, just to have a custom bike, and Bernie Mikkelson is in my area (and my dad actually knew him when he starting making frames in the 70's. One of my dads friends actually had one of the first three he built). Anyone have any opinions? I have heard mostly good things other than he can be slightly difficult to communicate with since his stroke (and my dad said he was an odd guy before too). Anyone have a Mikkelson and some photos?

Thanks!

I think somebody on the C&V forum here just picked up a used "Bernie". Lugged, VERY nice looking, from the Eisentraut / Gordon school.

Bernie's a good Guy, he let me use a couple of his shop tools , to create some widgets
to adapt my new Specialized, 'oops we put the lowrider boss on in the wrong spot' Expedition,
[but shipped it anyhow]
and fit mounting Bruce Gordon's Lowrider racks.. this was like '86

He is still at it, https://www.mikkelsenframes.com/

A friend & cycling mentor rides a Mikkelsen; he loves that bike! I really don't know any of the details (other than that it's pink, and outfitted with Campy), but the guy is a fabulous cyclist so clearly the Mikkelsen isn't an impediment to him.
