Long Bike?

Has anyone built a long bike like the Surly Big Dummy? It seems like a great build as these frames alone are in the $700 range. I would imagine jigging would be difficult, but if you were setup for tandems it shouldn't be that bad.

One apporach might be to build the bike in two halfs then join the ft w/ the rr. The longer the bike gets the less slight missalignments are a riding issue. Andy.

I considered building something like a big dummy, but I think I'd rather have a 'long john' with the load in front. Not sure if I really want to deal with the hassles of either though. Big Dummy is a bargain at $700, the only reason I can see to go custom on something like that is to get something different in some significant way.

Yeah, you won't save money going down this path. You'll just get the exact bike you want for more.
