"Just Leave It In Front Of The Garage."
My dear husband, who is otherwise in full possession of his faculties, suggested I leave my bike *overnight* in front of our garage to avoid his having to make space for it inside. "No one will steal it," he continued. :twitchy: On our busy street with the meth head neighbors? He has a huge case of laziness and the it-can't-happen-to-mes. I was about to go incandescent on him when he gave in. Gah!

Just bring it in the house! Or put something of his in front of the garage

In my neighborhood people from the nearby subsidized apartments walk up and down the streets at night looking for open garage doors, unlocked car doors, unlocked mini barns - basically anything that isn't too difficult to get into and steal something. A bike outside of a locked house or garage wouldn't last more than a few hours around here. People have even been robbed in broad daylight. Crazy.
And to make it worse, our police department is next to useless. |
If he is a light sleeper, tell him it can stay outside if he sleeps with it...if he is a heavy sleeper, no deal.

Wow, that would not fly with me...
In my neighborhood I could safely park my car outside and put my bike inside my car. (Taking the front wheel off and folding down the back seats) Could you do that if you had to? Of course, if you don't own a vehicle, then disregard. |
Put it on his side of the bed, and let him sleep outside.

You were right. He was wrong.

Once I saw a fixie locked to some window bars at night in a low-income neighborhood around here, was a bit surprised...wonder how long it lasted.
|
I live in what many people would consider a fairly nice urban core neighborhood and if I left my bike out in front of the house for a couple of hours unattended I'm pretty sure it would be gone.
Ask your husband if he would leave the equivalent in cash sitting in front of the house overnight. See if that would make sense to him. |

Perhaps the wife's birthday is coming up.
And there is an undisclosed birthday present that was taking up too much space where the bicycle would normally be parked inside. :innocent: |

In other words he does not give two $hits about your bike and perhaps your bike riding as well. If is was you, I'd tell him the bike brings you more joy than he does and that he better get of his A$$ and make room for it in the garage.
